Su***de prevention starts with connection.

Every day, people across Australia experience thoughts of su***de, often without those around them knowing what they’re going through.

That’s why checking in matters. A simple conversation can let someone know they’re seen, heard and not alone. 💛

If you’re worried about someone, you don’t need to have all the answers. Start by asking:

“Are you OK?”

Then take the time to listen, without judgement, and encourage them to connect with the support they need.

🌻 Ask. Listen. Encourage help.

Let’s create a culture where talking about how we’re really feeling is okay — and where no one has to struggle alone.

Not sure what to say when you ask someone, “Are you OK?” 💛

Starting a conversation about someone’s mental health can feel a little uncomfortable — especially if you’re worried about saying the wrong thing.

The good news is, you don’t need to have all the answers.

Sometimes, the most important thing you can do is ask, listen and let the person know you're there for them.

Sometimes, the signs aren’t obvious.

They might be struggling to focus, falling behind at school or work, feeling overwhelmed, or simply not quite themselves. It can be easy to think they’re “just not trying” — but there may be something more going on beneath the surface.

If you notice a change in someone you care about, start the conversation. 💛

You don’t need to have the perfect words or know exactly what to say. Sometimes, simply asking “Are you OK?” can be the first step towards letting someone know they’re not alone.

🌻 Check in.
💛 Listen without judgement.
🤝 Let them know you’re there.

Walking for hope. Walking for connection. Walking to bring su***de out of the shadows. 💛

On 5 September — in lieu of World Su***de Prevention Day — the Woodside Centre team will be taking part in Lifeline's Out of the Shadows Walk.

We'll be walking 9km for the nine Australians who die by su***de each day, while raising awareness and funds to support Lifeline's su***de prevention work.

Because sometimes the first step is simply knowing you don't have to face it alone.

Sometimes, struggling doesn’t look like a big crisis.

It can look like putting off simple tasks, losing motivation, feeling overwhelmed by everyday responsibilities, or finding things that usually feel manageable suddenly feel impossible.

These little changes can be signs that someone might be having a harder time than they’re letting on.

If you’ve noticed someone seems overwhelmed lately, don’t be afraid to check in. 💛

A simple “How have you really been going?” can open the door to a conversation that someone may really need.

You don’t need to fix everything. Just listen, be present and let them know you care.

You are not behind. 💚

It’s easy to look around and feel like everyone else is moving faster — reaching milestones, building careers, finding relationships, achieving goals, or simply having life figured out.

But life isn’t a race. And progress doesn’t always look the way we expect it to.

Sometimes progress looks like resting.
Sometimes it looks like making it through a difficult day.
Sometimes it’s a quiet decision to keep going.

Your journey is allowed to look different.

You’re not late. You’re on your own timeline. 🌿

Save this for the days when you need the reminder, and share it with someone who might need to hear it too.

Stepping Out of the Shadows 💛

This September, the Woodside Centre team will be walking together for World Su***de Prevention Day as part of Lifeline’s Out of the Shadows Walk.

We’ll be walking 9km — representing the nine Australians who die by su***de each day — to remember those we have lost, stand alongside those who may be struggling, and help bring conversations about su***de out of the shadows.

Su***de can be difficult to talk about. But talking openly, listening without judgement, and reminding someone that they don't have to face difficult moments alone can make a difference.

We’re walking to support connection, hope and su***de prevention. 💛

If you’d like to support our team, we’d love for you to donate to our fundraiser or share this post to help us spread the message. https://www.outoftheshadowswalk.org.au/fundraisers/woodsidecentre

Together, we can help make sure no one has to face their toughest moments alone.

Bullying has no place in our schools, workplaces, communities, or online spaces. 💛

Bullying No Way Week is a reminder that everyone deserves to feel safe, respected, and included.

Sometimes, the smallest actions can make the biggest difference — checking in with someone, speaking up when something isn’t right, including someone who feels left out, or simply reminding them that they’re not alone.

🌱 Be kind. Speak up. Include others. Ask for help.

If you’re experiencing bullying, you don’t have to face it by yourself. Reaching out to someone you trust can be the first step towards getting support.

Let’s stand together for respect, safety, and kindness in schools and communities. Every voice matters — yours included.

Together, we can create spaces where everyone feels they belong.

You don’t have to wait until you’re struggling “enough” to deserve support. 🤍

Sometimes the hardest days aren’t the ones where everything falls apart — they’re the days when ordinary things suddenly feel like too much.

When replying to a message feels exhausting.
When making a decision feels overwhelming.
When you’re carrying emotions you can’t quite put into words.

That’s when having a safe space to talk can make a difference.

Counselling provides an opportunity to slow down, be heard, and begin to understand what you’re experiencing with compassion and without judgement.

🌿 Asking for help is not giving up.
🌿 It’s taking care of yourself.

Your wellbeing matters. You don’t have to navigate difficult moments alone.

💚 Sometimes the bravest step is simply saying, “I need some help.”

At Woodside Centre, our counselling team is here to walk alongside you and provide support when you need it.

🍃 It's okay if healing doesn't look the way you expected.

Healing can feel messy.

It can look like making progress one week and feeling overwhelmed the next. It can mean celebrating small wins while still carrying difficult emotions.

This doesn't mean you're going backwards—it means you're human.

Counselling offers a space where you can slow down, process your experiences, and discover strategies that support your wellbeing, no matter where you are on your journey.

Remember: healing isn't about reaching a destination. It's about learning to care for yourself along the way. 🤍
