A HUGE congratulations to Baylee Proctor on being named the First Nations Trainee of the Year for Metropolitan Queensland at the Queensland Training Awards! 🎉👏🏽

What an incredible achievement and one that we at Connect’n’Grow are incredibly proud of. Baylee has shown dedication, determination and commitment throughout his traineeship, and it’s fantastic to see his hard work recognised on such a big stage. And if winning a Training Award wasn’t enough… Baylee has also recently taken out the World Championship in bull riding in Texas! 🐂🏆🇺🇸

From Queensland to the world stage, Baylee is proving that with hard work, passion and a whole lot of determination, anything is possible.

Today we recognise International Day of the World's Indigenous Peoples 🌏️👥

It's an opportunity to celebrate the rich cultures, histories, languages and knowledge of Indigenous Peoples around the world, while reflecting on the importance of listening, learning and showing respect.

At Connect n Grow, we believe that embedding Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives into everyday learning helps develop understanding, empathy and a genuine appreciation for the world's oldest continuing cultures.

This afternoon we celebrated the dedication, growth and achievements of an incredible group of students as they completed their Deadly Start journey. We’re so proud of everything they’ve accomplished and can't wait to see where their future takes them.

Tonight, we are proudly cheering on three outstanding Connect’n’Grow trainees who have been nominated for the Queensland Metropolitan Training Awards!

A huge congratulations and best of luck to Krystal Clayton, Amira Ahmat and Baylee Proctor as they are recognised for their dedication, hard work and achievements throughout their training journey.

A special mention to Baylee, who has flown back into Australia from the USA just in time to attend tonight’s awards ceremony - a true testament to how important this occasion is.

We are incredibly proud of all three nominees and the commitment they have shown in pursuing their career goals. No matter the outcome tonight, you have already achieved something remarkable by being recognised amongst Queensland’s best.

It was an honour to attend the 2026 Queensland Training Awards on the Gold Coast on Friday evening alongside Charlotte from Seed Foundation Australia.

The night was a fantastic celebration of the achievements, dedication and impact that vocational education and training has across Queensland. It was especially exciting to be there supporting Caitlin as a finalist and recognising the incredible work and commitment that has brought her this far.

Congratulations to all finalists and winners who continue to inspire others through their learning, leadership and passion. Events like these are a great reminder of the life-changing opportunities that training and employment pathways create for individuals, communities and industries across our state 👏🏼

🏆 Congratulations to our outstanding student, Cassius McLeod, on being named the 2026 Queensland Training Awards – North Queensland Regional Final Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Student of the Year! 🌟

Building on his Certificate II in Health Support Services with Connect N Grow, Cassius has taken the next step in his journey through a school-based traineeship at Bowen Hospital. A proud First Nations student from Proserpine State High School, Cassius has approached every opportunity with maturity, purpose, and an unwavering commitment to his future in healthcare.

His dedication, resilience, and strong work ethic have earned the respect of mentors and colleagues alike, with one mentor describing Cassius' journey as "the kind that gives people goosebumps."
