Townsville — a quick update from Doorstep Doctors 🚑

It’s been a little while since our last update, but we’ve been working hard behind the scenes to build a service that Townsville truly deserves.

It’s also coming up to a year since we trialled after-hours home doctor visits here in Townsville.

As a father, I know there’s nothing worse than trying to get your sick child dressed, into the car, and out the door at night just to get help.

That’s where we believe Doorstep Doctors can help.

The idea is simple:

When you or your kids are sick after hours and can’t get to a GP…
👉 a doctor comes to you.

We’ll be operating in the evenings (6pm – late), helping with things like:
• Sick kids
• Infections
• Minor injuries
• General urgent care

Townsville already has great services — our emergency departments, urgent care, and GP after-hours clinics.

Doorstep Doctors isn’t here to replace them — it’s about supporting them and helping bridge the gap for families who need care at home.

⚠️ This is for non-emergencies — anything serious should still go to hospital.

We understand cost of living pressures are real for many families (ours included), and we’re working towards making this service as accessible as possible as we grow.

We’ll be starting with a private billing model, with plans to introduce a bulk-billed service as the service develops.

We’re getting very close to launching.

Hi everyone, Matt here — founder of Doorstep Doctors.

After listening to the community and exploring every option, we’ve made the decision to resume home visits as a privately billed service. This lets us get back to helping people while we continue building toward our long-term goal of offering a bulk-billed model in partnership with a GP clinic.

It’s not the final version of Doorstep Doctors — just the best way forward for now, so families don’t have to go without care after hours.

Our doctors come from emergency medicine backgrounds. They know when something needs escalation and when it can be treated safely at home — bringing calm, capable care to your living room.

Hey Townsville 👋 Just a quick update from me, Matt – founder of Doorstep Doctors.

We’ve had a few bumps in the road over the last few weeks, and while we had planned to be back visiting patients by now, we’ve hit a snag with Medicare and provider admin (yes, even doctors have red tape!).

Our amazing Dr. Tracey is taking a short break from general practice, and while we work through this transition, we’re hitting pause on bookings for now.

The good news? We have more doctors joining Doorstep Doctors later this year, and we’re really excited about what’s coming, including service to all suburbs of Townsville.

Doorstep Doctors isn’t going anywhere. We’re just working hard behind the scenes to make sure we come back stronger and better – and soon.

Thanks for sticking with us. We’ve felt your support from the beginning, and we’re beyond grateful. Stay tuned – we’ll keep you updated!

Local Spotlight: Pop Up Psych – Mental Health with Heart

While Doorstep Doctors is taking a short break, we’re using this time to shine a light on local legends making a real difference in our community.

This week, we’re proud to feature Pop Up Psych, founded by the incredible Pim.

Pim is on a mission to deliver professional development workshops focused on mental health, helping workplaces and organisations embed meaningful wellbeing practices. But it doesn’t stop there.

For every five workshops delivered, Pop Up Psych will offer a free professional development session to a local community group—like a sports club or scouts—who might not usually have the budget for this kind of vital support.

It’s an amazing way to give back, and we’re all for it.

Thank You, Townsville – Our Trial Period Has Ended!

Our April trial has officially wrapped up, and we want to say a heartfelt thank you to everyone who welcomed Doorstep Doctors into your homes.

It’s been a privilege helping the community with after-hours care, and we’ve truly enjoyed offering this much-needed service.

We also want to acknowledge that, due to limited resources during the trial, we weren’t always able to reach everyone who needed us. But we’ve learned a lot, and we’re working hard behind the scenes to come back stronger—with more coverage and more availability across Townsville.

We’ll be back in early June, ready to serve even more of the community.

Stay tuned for updates—we’re just getting started!

We are no longer taking any bookings for tonight. Thank you, everyone, for your support.

I’d also like to thank you for your patience and feedback. April was always planned as a bit of a trial period, followed by a short break in May. We’re looking forward to one more weekend of appointments before we take the time to make sure that when services resume, we can bring Doorstep Doctors to you in earnest.
