💛 Su***de Prevention Starts With Conversation 💬
In the lead-up to R U OK? 💛 and World Su***de Prevention Day 🌏 on 10 September, our Registered Counsellor, Pippa Bird, will be participating in the Su***de Prevention Summit hosted by Mental Health Academy.
The Summit brings together mental health professionals, advocates, educators, leaders and community members with a shared commitment to saving lives and strengthening su***de prevention efforts. 🤝💛
For too long, su***de has been surrounded by stigma, misunderstanding and silence. For someone who is struggling, that silence can deepen feelings of isolation and make reaching out for help feel even harder.
Su***de prevention begins with creating a culture where conversations about mental health and su***de are not avoided, but approached with courage, empathy and compassion. 💬🫶 Creating safe spaces where people feel able to speak openly, without fear of judgement, is an important part of breaking down stigma and strengthening connection.
This R U OK? Day, asking “Are you OK?” 💛 is more than a question. It is an opportunity to listen 👂, to create space for vulnerability and to remind someone that they do not have to navigate difficult moments alone.
When we talk openly and compassionately about su***de, we can reduce shame, foster connection and encourage people to seek support. 🌱
💬 When we talk, we create awareness.
💛 When we create awareness, we encourage help-seeking.
🤝 And when we encourage help-seeking, we can help save lives.
🌻 Our HK team and our entire community are right behind Pippa. We’re proud to support her as she continues to learn, advocate and help create conversations that can make a real difference. Together, we can build a community where no one has to struggle in silence.” 💛
Su***de prevention is everyone’s responsibility. Sometimes, a conversation can be the beginning of connection, hope and support. 🫶🌱
