Friday - Breton Barn Thoughts:
The "Nothing's Wrong" Horse
I hear it all the time...
"There's nothing wrong with him."
And often, they're right.
The horse isn't lame.
The horse isn't sick.
The horse isn't injured.
But...
He's standing with one hind leg parked out.
He's holding tension through his jaw.
He's swishing his tail when the girth goes on.
He's become a little less willing than he used to be.
Sometimes horses whisper long before they shout.
The art isn't just noticing when something is wrong.
It's noticing when something has changed.
What subtle changes has your horse shown you lately?
