Lace up your sneakers and mark your calendar for Sunday, November 2, 2025, because Mind the Walk is striding back into Rockingham, and it’s bigger, brighter, and bolder than ever! Mind the Walk is not your average fundraising event. This isn’t a simple walk; it’s a fully guided, interactive, historical 5km journey along the beautiful Rockingham Beach. As you amble through Rotary Park Reserve and the surrounding coastline, you’ll be led on a scavenger hunt, peppered with fun and quirky historical facts that bring our local story to life. With every registration, you’ll receive a treasure-filled information booklet—your passport to discovering hidden gems along the route. Community Carnival: More Than a Walk! The adventure continues within Rotary Park, transformed into a bustling hub of excitement! Dive into:

Community group displays bursting with creativity and inspiration
Informative talks and mental health resources to guide and empower

Games galore and playful activities for kids—and the young at heart

Cuddle time with friendly animals (who can resist a furry friend?)

An obstacle course to conquer and raise even more for a great cause

But wait, there’s more—get your body moving and your spirits soaring with a smorgasbord of energising activities:

Our aim is to shine a light on support services, smash the stigma, and celebrate the power of community and nature in emotional wellbeing. If we help just one person take a step towards hope, our mission is a success. Mind the Walk is more than just a walk—it’s an uplifting festival of fun, fitness, and friendship for all ages. James Lowe
I was born into a time when being autistic and on the spectrum was all new. People didn't understand and therefore often treated me for my perceived behaviour rather than my brain working in a different way.
Growing up was hard. School was even harder.
Finding friends was a struggle, so I made friends with myself. With my imagination being fully engaged, I would then share my “friends and that world” with my family though the telling of stories.
Whilst I had unwavering support from my family it was my place in society I was struggling to find.
I am intelligent, creative, honest and reliable, I love the theatre world, and I found my place working with Venue 360 where I can be found running the lighting and sound box for stage productions.
When you find who your kindred spirits are, you can thrive! I know I have/am!

Rockingham Primary School - you'll see this on the MIND THE WALK TOUR

• Opened in January 1895 as a small one roomed building.
• Miss Maggie Simpson was the first teacher, and later became headmistress in November 1895 with an enrolment of thirteen boys and nine girls.
• 1903 teacher’s quarters were added to the site. Due to the dwindling population the school closed in 1908 and didn’t reopen until 1924.
• 1932 the Road Board wrote to the Education Department complaining that the school was “too small. crowded, hot and unhealthy.
• Mid-1934 a new two classroom school was built in Bay View Terrace, with the excise of five acres from the Golf Links for this purpose.
• The former school building was used as an office for the Sunray Caravan Park which held caravan sites, chalets, BBQ area and children's playground until 1988.
• Sunray Village was built in 1989. The door from the school is still hanging above the steps in the complex.
Now according to some businesses in Sunray its a replica but others say its the original. Does anyone know?
Plus who knew it was there, its in Sunray Village on the roof between the hairdresser and Thai restaurant.

Ainsleigh Brown
Is a single mum of two boys, including a young son with severe non-verbal autism. After overcoming domestic violence, depression, burnout, and years of balancing full-time work while advocating for her children, she made the courageous decision to step away from her career to focus on her family and rebuild her life.
Today, she is the founder of two small businesses and is passionate about creating opportunities through employment, community, and connection. Ainsleigh believes true strength isn't about having all the answers—it's about asking for help, finding support, and continuing to move forward.
Through sharing her story, she hopes to remind others that it's okay not to be okay, that no one should face life's challenges alone, and that hope can be found even in the most difficult times.
