RSL LifeCare Retirement Living, Residential Care, Home Care & Veteran Services. Creating proud communities, living their best lives.

RSL LifeCare is a charitable organisation that was formed in 1911 to provide care and service to war veterans. Services were initially provided at Bare Island, Botany Bay, until moving to Narrabeen in 1939. From small beginnings providing care and service to just a handful of war veterans, the organisation has grown to be one of the largest senior living services in Australia. Caring for 7,000 peo

ple across independent living, community care, assisted living, dementia and nursing home, we have developed an extensive range of services that fosters independence and provides social, clinical, emotional and spiritual support. Despite our growth and the passage of time, RSL LifeCare remains true to its original aim and mission – to provide a home of peace and security to senior Australians.

We are grateful to the Australian Government Department of Veterans' Affairs for investing more than $152,000 in programs that will benefit veterans and families across NSW and the ACT.

The funding will help expand a range of initiatives designed to meet people where they are in their journey, including:
• Indigenous Engagement Workshops through the Shoalhaven Veteran and Family Hub
• Music-based programs for veterans in Queanbeyan
• New opportunities for veterans participating in the Homes for Heroes program
• Expanded equine-assisted activities for veterans in regional NSW
• Delivery of the Trojan's Trek wellbeing pilot through Veteran and Family Hubs in NSW

Every veteran's experience is different. That's why access to a variety of programs and services matters. Whether it's building friendships, learning new skills, reconnecting with culture, finding support during difficult times, or discovering a new sense of purpose, these initiatives help create opportunities for veterans and families to participate, grow and thrive.

We're proud to work alongside DVA and community partners to ensure veterans and families can access practical support and meaningful programs close to home.

Can't help falling in love with Narrabeen!🕺

We recently had a fantastic night at RSL ANZAC Village where residents, families, and team members came together for an evening filled with great company, delicious food, and plenty of dancing. A highlight of the night was the incredible performance by ShElvis, the stage alter ego of Australian singer Sheryl Scharkie and one of the country’s leading female Elvis tribute artists, who had everyone singing along to classic Elvis hits.

Guests enjoyed a delicious meal prepared by our talented hospitality team from The DugOut Café in Narrabeen. From the music to the food and the wonderful community spirit, it was a night to remember. Thank you to everyone who joined us and helped make the evening so special.

Our recent Open Day at Tea Gardens Grange was a wonderful showcase of village life, welcoming more than 40 guests and residents for a relaxed and informative morning.

The day began with a warm welcome and morning tea by the fireplace or overlooking the lake at the clubhouse, where visitors enjoyed meeting some of our friendly residents. We recently had the honour of celebrating a remarkable milestone for two very special residents, Sheila and Marie, as they each turned 100 years young.

At our Mona Tait Gardens residential care home, Sheila celebrated her 100th birthday surrounded by family, fellow residents and team members. Born at Queanbeyan Hospital and raised in Canberra, Sheila has lived a life rich in experiences. During the war years, she worked in the Public Service before travelling around Australia with her husband during his Army service. Today, Sheila enjoys a quieter lifestyle, supported by regular family visits, one-on-one engagement and her daily newspaper.

Meanwhile, at our Long Tan Retirement Village, Marie marked her centenary surrounded by friends, loved ones and the community she has called home for many years. The wife of a war hero, Marie is known for her warmth, positivity and wonderful sense of humour. Whether she is enjoying Bingo, attending Happy Hour or sharing stories with friends, Marie embraces every day with enthusiasm and joy. In true Marie fashion, she is already looking ahead and planning her 101st birthday celebration!

Please join us in wishing Sheila and Marie a very happy 100th birthday.

NAIDOC Week is an important opportunity for RSL LifeCare communities to recognise, celebrate and learn about the histories, cultures and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. Last week, across many of our residential care communities, residents took part in activities that encouraged reflection, learning and creativity. Through artwork, conversations and shared experiences, residents explored the significance of NAIDOC Week and the importance of respect, understanding and reconciliation.

The photos featured here are from our Austral, Condobolin, Kaleen and Narrabeen residential care homes, where residents created beautiful artworks inspired by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures, stories and connections to Country. At Kaleen, residents also enjoyed a special musical performance featuring Aboriginal songs, and in Condobolin, residents enjoyed a visit from local high school students who performed traditional Aboriginal dances.

Happy Birthday Heather!

We recently celebrated a truly special milestone at Le Hamel Retirement Village, honouring long-time resident Heather on her 100th birthday. The village community room was beautifully decorated, with residents coming together to add thoughtful touches that made the occasion even more memorable.

Heather has been part of the Le Hamel community since 1989, forming many lasting friendships over the years. Friends describe Heather as a strong and resilient person, qualities they believe have contributed to reaching this remarkable milestone. Throughout her time at the village, Heather has been an active and valued member of the community, always eager to help and participate in social activities.

The celebration was a fitting tribute to Heather’s many years at Le Hamel Village and a lovely way to mark this new chapter, as she has recently moved into our residential care home, Arthur Blackburn VC Gardens.
