Your glutes do more than power your workouts—they help support your whole body.

If you're experiencing ongoing lower back, hip or knee pain, weak glute muscles could be playing a part.

Your gluteus medius and minimus help stabilise your pelvis when you walk, run and stand on one leg. When they're not working as well as they should, extra strain can be placed on your back, hips and knees, potentially contributing to discomfort.

At Your Body Osteopathy, we'll assess how your body is moving, provide hands-on treatment to help ease pain and improve mobility, and guide you with exercises to help strengthen your glutes and support long-term recovery.

A strong foundation can make all the difference to the way you move and feel.

🏀 Basketball is fast-paced, explosive... and demanding on your body.

Quick changes of direction, jumping, landing and sprinting can place extra stress on your ankles, knees, hips and back.

Whether you're dealing with a rolled ankle, knee pain, muscle tightness or a lingering shoulder injury, osteopathy can help assess how your body is moving and support your recovery with hands-on treatment, rehabilitation advice and exercises.

Don't let pain keep you on the sidelines this season.

Your workstation could be contributing to your aches and pains.

Whether you work from home or in the office, spending hours in the same position can place extra strain on your neck, shoulders and back.

Good ergonomics, regular movement, and the right desk setup can make a big difference to how your body feels throughout the day.

If discomfort is becoming your new normal, an osteopath can assess how your body is moving and provide advice to help reduce strain.

On Wednesday we had the pleasure of welcoming Nick and Mia from Scoot Paediatric Physiotherapy .paediatric.therapy , to the clinic.
Scoot provides physio services to kids throughout Nillumbik, Banyule & Whittlesea.

Nick and Mia shared their extensive knowledge and clinical experience in paediatric physiotherapy, guiding us through the assessment and management of common developmental concerns in babies and children. We explored topics including gross motor milestone development, movement patterns, clinical assessment techniques, and how to identify when a child may benefit from early intervention or referral.

The session also included practical, hands-on learning, giving our team the opportunity to refine assessment skills, discuss real-life clinical scenarios, and deepen our understanding of evidence-informed approaches to supporting healthy development in infants and children.

Collaborating with other healthcare professionals is an important part of how we continue to grow as clinicians. By learning from experts in paediatric physiotherapy, we're better equipped to work alongside families and other allied health professionals to provide comprehensive, patient-centred care.

A huge thank you to Nick and Mia for generously sharing their expertise and creating such an engaging and valuable learning experience. We truly appreciate your time and look forward to collaborating again in the future!

Welcome to Marcus! Marcus is joining us as part of our 2026 Student Intern Program. We look forward to working with you. Marcus will come in for our second-round placement which begins in September. We will open his bookings closer to when he is available.

Marcus is a fifth-year Osteopathy student at RMIT University, currently working on his clinical placements. Originally from Brazil, he transitioned into osteopathy after building a career as a Remedial Massage Therapist and Myotherapist, credentials also obtained at RMIT.

His passion for physical therapy started early, influenced by his lifelong involvement in contact sports, which exposed him to all aspects of training: preparation, competition, and recovery. Helping fellow athletes recover from injuries sparked a lasting curiosity about the body's movement, adaptation, and healing.

Osteopathy naturally complements his clinical development, expanding his technique repertoire. Marcus emphasises trust and collaboration in his treatment approach, working with patients toward shared goals: improved health and a fuller life.

Outside the clinic, Marcus has thirty years of experience as a professional musician, with a passion for rhythm and movement. He is married with three young children and values stress management and maintaining a balanced lifestyle.

Look out for him around the clinic.

Meet Masaki – Osteopath at Your Body Osteopathy

In our latest Meet the Team video, we get to know a little more about Masaki, his journey into osteopathy, and what drives him to help others.

Before becoming an osteopath, Masaki worked as a software engineer. After experiencing a challenging personal journey and receiving incredible support from others, he found a new purpose — helping people through difficult times and supporting them with their health and wellbeing.

Masaki is passionate about helping people who are experiencing pain that may be influenced by stress, life circumstances, and the physical demands we all carry.

And something you may not know about Masaki… although he grew up in Japan, he never had a pet until moving to Australia. Now he’s the proud owner of two much-loved chickens, Momo and Hiro! 🐔

We’re lucky to have Masaki as part of the Your Body Osteopathy team, bringing compassion, understanding and a genuine desire to help people feel their best.

Hey Team! Louis Heydon and I were at the new Ivanhoe location yesterday for a masterclass. We split off into groups for 4 x 30 minute talks each with a different region specialist and/or surgeon we had the chance to speak to:

Devinder Garewal specialised in shoulder surgery.
Matthew Barnes specialised in hip surgery.
Troy Keith specialised in foot and ankle surgery.

Complimenting them was James Taylor and Tracy Shang who spoke on mri and complex neurological cases.

I particularly found the time spent on talking about shoulder instability and surgical intervention very interesting and learned about the origin and use of a laterjet bone block procedure for chronically unstable shoulders. Being able to speak openly with surgeons that perform these procedures is a unique and rich experience for learning both Louis and I fully appreciated. Would highly recommend to all that get the chance!

We have a new model of the shoulder at our clinic to share with patients and help explain their pain or condition.

Thanks to Melbourne Arm Clinic and Mr Devinder Garewal.

We are really excited and can’t wait to show our patients with shoulder injuries.
