Video with Dr Monica Bruce about how Osteopaths can help women who are preparing for birth?

I'm here today with Monica. How are you going? I'm good thanks.
Tell me can osteopaths help women who are preparing for birth?
Yes we can. So as you're preparing for birth your body's obviously changing quite a lot.
So with that can come a lot of aches and pains, a lot of stiffness, restriction. It can be sort of difficult to move in certain ways so we can help keep you moving, keep you mobile and help reduce those aches and pains. Also we can help loosen up the pelvis which is useful if giving natural birth.
So we can help in all those ways. Great thanks for sharing.

Breathing isn’t just about your lungs — it’s also about how your ribs, spine and diaphragm move together.

Osteopaths focus on improving these mechanics by helping:
✔️ Increase rib cage mobility
✔️ Reduce tension in the diaphragm
✔️ Improve posture and chest expansion
✔️ Ease tight muscles involved in breathing

When your body moves better, breathing can feel easier, deeper and more efficient.

If you’ve been feeling tight or restricted, it may be worth getting assessed.

As we age, it’s common to experience more stiffness, reduced mobility and joint pain — but that doesn’t mean you have to live with it.

Osteopathy can help with:
✔️ Back, neck and joint pain
✔️ Arthritis and joint swelling
✔️ Hip, knee and foot discomfort
✔️ Injury recovery (even from everyday activities like gardening!)
✔️ Improving movement and overall mobility

With gentle, hands-on treatment, osteopaths work to keep you moving comfortably and doing the things you love for longer.

Because staying active isn’t just about getting older — it’s about living well. 💙

Is This Normal Pain? When Should You See an Osteopath

Understanding Everyday Pain vs Serious Pain

Many people experience aches and stiffness and dismiss them as “normal.”

After a respiratory illness, it’s common to feel tight through the chest, ribs, and diaphragm — even once the infection has passed.

Osteopathy can’t treat the lungs directly, but it may help improve how your body moves and breathes by addressing:
✔️ Rib and chest stiffness
✔️ Diaphragm tension
✔️ Upper back and posture restrictions
✔️ Tight breathing muscles from coughing or illness

Many people notice they can take a deeper, easier breath as mobility improves after treatment.

If you’re still feeling restricted after being sick, it may be worth getting booking in for your next osteo treatment.

Osteo Catherine Spiteri answering FAQ - Can osteopathy help with jaw & TMJ issues?

Lots of people come in to see osteopaths about TMJ issues or jaw issues

TMJ stands for temporomandibular joint. So it is actually your jaw joint, coming in through there.

And when they come see us, we assess to see what the rest of the muscles of the face and mouth are doing. Including the neck, front and back, underneath the chin. We can even pop a glove on and see what the tissues are doing inside the mouth and jaw and under the tongue and see what's relating to the reason why you're coming in

Common Conditions Treated:

Jaw clenching and bruxism (teeth grinding).
Clicking or popping jaw joints.
Locking of the jaw.
Tension headaches stemming from the jaw.

If you or a family member are experiencing jaw pain, clenching or clicking of the jaw joint, make an osteo appointment today, book online at www.yourbodyosteopathy.com.au or 9431 6604
