If your own voice suddenly sounds louder than usual, that's often the first sign.

Ben walks through what to watch for, from a dull, full feeling in the ear to hearing aids that start whistling when they weren't before. He also explains why it's usually one ear at a time, not both.

Watch Ben break it down in the clip.

Noticed any of these yourself, or in someone you love? Let us know below.

Waxy ears don't always mean a trip to the clinic straight away.

Ben shares what he recommends first, including the drops he uses in clinic to soften wax and support your ear's natural process. He also covers the signs that mean it's time to book a professional removal instead.

Have you tried ear drops before? Tell us if they worked for you.

One of Andrej's patients was a keen bird watcher, out hiking and camping to catch different calls. Over time, he started missing the high-pitched ones without realising it.

Hearing wasn't even his main reason for coming in. But once he was fitted, he could pick up all the calls he'd been missing, and it brought his passion for bird watching straight back.

Andrej says it's one of his favourite outcomes to witness.

Still catching every call out there, or are the high notes going quiet? Tell us below.

Most people assume hearing loss is something that only happens later in life. Andrej sees it differently every week.

He explains why younger people walk into the clinic just as often as older patients, and shares the personal reason he chose audiology in the first place, growing up with a dad who lived with hearing loss himself.

Watch Andrej talk about what drew him to this work, and what he cares about most for his patients.

Has hearing loss touched your family at any age? We'd love to hear your story.

Andrej's favourite part of his job isn't the fitting appointment. It's what happens after.

He says the moment that stays with him most is watching grandparents hear their grandchildren clearly again, especially the little ones who are still learning to talk. Being able to follow what they're saying, share in their day, be part of the conversation instead of watching from the outside.

Watch Andrej share why this is the part of the job he loves most.

What's a conversation you'd love to hear more clearly? Tell us below.

Reaching for a cotton bud when your ears feel waxy? Here's the part most people don't know.

Wax is only made in the outer third of your ear canal, and your ear already has a natural way of moving it out from there. Push a cotton bud in and you're often pushing that wax past the point where it can clear on its own.

Ben explains why we see this so often in clinic, and what to use instead.

Have you been told to avoid cotton buds before, or is this news to you? Tell us in the comments.

You've probably seen it long before they have. What holds most people back is not knowing how to raise it without it landing badly.

Our audiologists sit in on that conversation every week, so we've put what actually works into a free guide. You'll get the moments worth picking, the words that open the conversation, and what to do if they wave it away. Written for you whether it's your partner, your mum or dad, or a friend.

There's a moment right after wax removal where sound just switches back on.

Chris says patients often need a day or two for their brain to adjust to hearing at full volume again, sometimes a bit echoey at first, simply because sound isn't travelling through a layer of wax anymore. It settles quickly and the change is instantly noticeable!

The removal itself is gentle microsuction, done by a trained clinician who talks you through it start to finish.

Six things cause blocked, full ears. Wax is only one of them.

Cotton buds push wax further in instead of out. Some ear canals are shaped in a way that traps it naturally. Hairy ears catch wax before it clears. Hearing aids or earplugs worn all day stop wax from working its way out. A cold or allergies can leave fluid sitting behind the drum. Flying or a steep drive can change ear pressure enough to feel like they need to pop.

Still picturing the big, bulky hearing aids your grandparents wore? That's not what we fit anymore.

Rob, one of our audiologists in Seaton, breaks down what's actually changed. Today's devices use AI-driven noise reduction, stream calls and music straight from your phone, and adjust automatically depending on where you are, no buttons, no fumbling with settings.

But the technology is only half the story. How a device is fitted and programmed for your hearing and your life matters just as much as the hardware itself. That's the part we spend the most time getting right.

Want to know what's actually right for you? Give us a call or pop over to our website to book in.
