🎉 Santas at the Ekka is back! 🎉

Join us on Friday, 7 August, at a new venue and time, making it even easier for exhibitors, members and friends of the breed to come together and celebrate.

Following a big day of stud judging in the Santa ring, the evening will feature the announcement of the 2026 RJ Kleberg Scholar, along with our Youth Development Auction, helping support Santa Gertrudis youth programs and activities over the next 12 months.

With venue numbers limited to 120 guests, ticket allocations are as follows:

✅ Ekka Exhibitors & Staff – FREE (up to 4 tickets per exhibitor)
✅ Santa Gertrudis Members (not exhibiting) – FREE (up to 2 tickets per membership)
✅ Children under 12 – FREE (must be accompanied by a parent or guardian)

📅 Priority access for exhibitors and members closes Friday, 24 July.

🎟️ Additional tickets for non-members ($35 each) will be released from 25 July and close Friday, 31 July, subject to availability.

Welcome to one of the new kids on the block to the 2026 Heartland Breeders Group Sale Ribbleton Santa Gertrudis!

Ribbleton Santa Gertrudis, run by Gus Hutchinson at Clifton and Nobby, Queensland.

This stud has grown from a commercial Santa herd started in 2008 into a fully classified stud in 2018. The herd now stands at 60 classified S females alongside 15 commercial females, with every animal GGP50K tissue tested for parent verification. Sire lines include Bremervale Quigley, Bremervale Ripley, Dundee Aztec and Lindlands Mate, with current sires Dunlop T434 and Murgona Spartan continuing the program. Ribbleton Steve, son of retired sire Ribbleton Humphrey, took out Senior and Grand Champion Bull honours at the 2022 Brisbane Royal Ekka.

Four generations of Santa Gertrudis breeding, and the temperament still speaks for itself. Adam and Karen Mayes have been running On the hill at Chilgerrie Hill Santa Stud and Silver Star Kelpie Stud since the 1960s, with the prefix registered in 1975. It's easy-doing, quiet cattle that keep steer buyers coming back year after year.

Sire lines built on Dangarfield, Yarrawonga and Diamond H bloodlines back up strong fertility across the herd, with high pregnancy rates and fat weaners a consistent result.

Chilgerrie Hill is one of the vendors selling at the this years 2026 Heartland Bull Sale this September at Roma Saleyards.

Vendor Spotlight: Beefwood Santa Gertrudis

Kicking off our 2026 Vendor Spotlight series with Beefwood Santa Gertrudis, Stud 2176. Run by Brett and Ashlee White at Forest Grove, Wallumbilla, alongside their four sons, Beefwood is built on a clear breeding philosophy: structurally correct, easy doing cattle bred to perform across a range of conditions.

Female lines have been added from Kilcock, Bullamakinka, Pinnaroo and Glenn Oaks, with sire lines from Fishington, Glenn Oaks, Rosgar, Dundee, Munnabah and Diamond H.

Alongside the stud, Brett and Ashlee also run WLS Fitting and The Bank Shorthorns, and 2026 has already brought champion and reserve champion honours across junior and senior female classes at the Roma Show. A genuine family operation with genetics to match.
