Matua Aaron teaches us traditional methods to our tauira every Thursday, such as taniko and mawhitiwhiti with a particular style of weaving that we can one day pass down to our own 🥰

Two striking patu rākau carved with intention by Moa Ngawhare of Taranaki Tūturu & Ngā Puhi.. you work so hard on your creations boy and we are always in your corner. Ngā mihi rangatira e hoa ✨

My two blocks of jarrah have asked for new form, so I have aided them in their request. These patu have been made for our peka over here in boorloo.

Ringneck and emu feathers lashed in waxed leather cord. The blue representing our peka, while the emu is the land that it walks on. The owl feathers pay homage to all who have passed and to remind us of their presence. Though they are gone, they still live on
The taura, acknowledging the many walks of life that have come to bring mau rakau here to WA. It shows the support that we give to one another and the unity that is needed to keep us strong.

Their names are Māreikura and Whatukura.

Māreikura and whatukura hold the male and female aspects of our very way of being. They live through us and every other force that makes the world. The feminine and masculine energys that hold life itself together.
