Are you running on empty?
Between work, family, daily pressures and endless to-do lists it's easy to end up feeling stressed, anxious or constantly wired β€” even when nothing dramatic is happening. That low hum of tension that just won't switch off.

What if you could shift that in 60 seconds β€” using nothing but your breath?

What is Heart Centred Breathwork?
Breathwork is simply learning to breathe on purpose.
Most of us breathe shallow and fast without realising it β€” and that keeps our nervous system stuck in low-level fight-or-flight all day. Cortisol stays high. Anxiety hums. Sleep suffers.
Heart Centred Breathwork teaches you to breathe slowly through your nose, down into your belly, with a long gentle exhale. This directly stimulates your vagus nerve β€” shifting your body from stress into rest and restore.

No lying down. No special experience needed. Just your breath, used intentionally.
Most people feel something shift within the first five minutes.
What we do together:
🌿 Settle the nervous system and shift out of fight-or-flight
🌿 Quiet the mental noise and reduce anxiety
🌿 Open the heart and reconnect with yourself
🌿 Breathe under the trees with a warm, welcoming circle of people

Tuesday night magic . 🌿
Our early birds arrived and settled in under the trees as the fairy lights came on and the evening softened around us.

And then β€” we had a visitor.
A possum found herself a comfortable spot in the branches above our circle and stayed for the entire hour.
I'd like to think she knew exactly what was happening beneath her. 🐾

There is something about breathing slowly under the open sky, with fairy lights in the trees and Queensland wildlife keeping watch, that you simply cannot recreate indoors.
This is the Come Home to Yourself
Breathwork Circle.

Breathe. Reset. Come Home to Yourself. 🌿

10/08/2026

Did you know the average adult takes around 20,000 breaths a day? Most of us are breathing on autopilot β€” shallow and fast β€” stuck in fight-or-flight without even realising it.
What does that actually mean? Higher stress. Poor focus. A nervous system that never switches off.
I'm Leigh, from Stillpoint Wellness. I'm a certified Core Clearing Breathwork Practitioner (Australian Breathwork College), and I've spent years studying how something this simple β€” just breath β€” can completely change how we feel.
There's a huge body of research now showing that changing how we breathe can change how we feel. Slowing down to 5–6 breaths a minute switches on your body's rest-and-digest response. It can help calm anxiety, ease stress, and sharpen focus β€” in as little as 15 minutes.
You don't need 20,000 mindless breaths. You need a few good ones β€” and a way back to yourself. 🌿

Carl Stough Β· The power of the exhale

Something clicked for me on a morning walk.
I noticed my inhale was longer than my exhale.
I wasn't aware of it until that moment β€” but once I noticed, I couldn't un-notice it. I was breathing in more than I was breathing out. Holding on without realising it.
I started consciously matching them. Five counts in. Five counts out. Long and slow through the nose.
Within a few minutes something shifted.

This is exactly what Carl Stough discovered in the 1950s. A choral director who started working with emphysema patients β€” he found that most people barely used their diaphragm on the exhale. They were leaving stale air trapped in the lungs and wondering why they felt tired and tense.
His insight was simple and profound.

Most of us focus on the inhale. The exhale is where the real power lives.
The long exhale is what activates your parasympathetic nervous system β€” rest, restore, digest. It's what tells your body it's safe to relax.

Next time you're walking β€” just notice. Is your inhale longer than your exhale?
Try five counts in and five counts out. Through the nose.
Feel what happens.

George Catlin β€” nose breathing known for centuries

Catlin was a 19th century painter who spent decades living with and documenting Native American tribes across North America.

What struck him wasn't just their appearance or culture β€” it was that they were extraordinarily healthy. Straight teeth, wide jaws, virtually no respiratory illness.

He noticed something consistent across every tribe β€” they breathed through their noses. Always.

Mothers would gently close their sleeping infants' mouths. It was a cultural practice, a conscious teaching passed down through generations.
He wrote about it in a book called Shut Your Mouth β€” published in 1870. One hundred and fifty years before James Nestor confirmed it with modern science, Catlin already knew.

When I read this I realised nose breathing wasn't a modern wellness trend β€” it was ancient wisdom that got lost somewhere between then and now. That landed differently than any science paper could.

😳 Why Your Breath Might Be the Most Overlooked Part of Your Health
We breathe around 20,000 times a day. And most of us never think about it once.
But here's what I've learned β€” and what changed everything for me.
How you breathe matters just as much as the fact that you're doing it.

Most of us breathe shallow, fast and through our mouths. Over time this quietly affects sleep, stress levels, digestion, energy and even how we handle our emotions. We think we're just tired or anxious or overwhelmed.
Sometimes we're just breathing wrong.

The good news? Breathing is a skill you can relearn. And the shifts are simple:
🌿 Breathe through your nose
🌿 Slow it down β€” 5 to 6 breaths per minute when resting
🌿 Breathe into your belly first, then your chest
🌿 Just notice your breath during the day β€” awareness alone starts to change the pattern

Better breathing means better sleep, lower stress, more energy and a calmer nervous system

It's available right now. And you're already doing it β€” just imagine doing it well.
Take one slow breath through your nose. Then exhale for a slightly longer time through the nose🌿
That's where it starts.
