You may have seen recent conversations about human composting, also known as Natural Organic Reduction or terramation.
This is an end-of-life option where the body is placed in a carefully managed vessel with natural materials such as wood chips, hay and sawdust, allowing it to gently transform into nutrient-rich soil over several weeks.
It is not currently available in Australia, but Sydney MP Alex Greenwich is seeking to introduce legislation in NSW that could help make this option possible here in the future.
For many people, this conversation is about choice, sustainability, affordability and creating more meaningful ways to return to the earth.
At Natural Grace, we believe families deserve knowledge, understanding and access to end-of-life options that reflect their values. This may feel new or unfamiliar, and that’s okay. Gentle conversations are where change begins.
Would you consider human composting if it became available in Australia?
