Ever wondered what goes into planning the future of clinical research in Australia? 🔬

This Friday, our Founder and CEO, Dr Michelle Cestari, will be a panellist at the AusBiotech International Conference on the Gold Coast. She’ll join leaders from healthcare, industry and government to talk about how Australia can grow its clinical trials sector.

One big part of that conversation is people: how to make research easier to understand, easier to take part in and better at fitting around real lives. That’s something we think about every day at JM Clinical. 💙

We recently brought together young people living with coeliac disease to hear their experiences, concerns and ideas about research participation.

Our Youth Ambassador, Zoe, shares three key themes that emerged - and how these insights can help make clinical research more accessible, supportive and participant-centred.

It can be confusing to understand your triggers with coeliac disease. A new blood test, called the Novoleukin-C Test, is being developed to differentiate immune responsiveness to gluten from that of wheat and we want your help to optimise the test.

We’re looking for participants:

🔵 Aged 18–75
🔵 Biopsy-confirmed coeliac disease
🔵 On a gluten-free diet >2 weeks

Study involves visiting a clinic and providing blood on several occasions, between one month and two years, without the need to consume either wheat or gluten.

🧬 What do coeliac disease, clinical research and hundreds of passionate healthcare professionals have in common?

On Saturday, the JM Clinical team attended HealthEd's Annual Women's & Children's Health Update in Brisbane, connecting with ~2000 GPs and healthcare professionals. 👩‍⚕️👨‍⚕️

A highlight of the event was seeing our co-founder, Professor Bob Anderson, present his session:

🎤 "5 Myths About Diagnosing Coeliac Disease That Need to Be Busted"

The presentation tackling some of the misconceptions that can make timely diagnosis a challenge for so many patients and families.

📚 Our Managing Director, Michelle Ferrari Cestari, PhD, was busy speaking with GPs about clinical research, participant recruitment and the important role research plays in improving patient outcomes.

🤝 We were also delighted to have Prof Graham Radford-Smith join us. As a Principal Investigator at JM Clinical, Graham brings extensive expertise in gastroenterology, inflammatory bowel disease and clinical research.

💙 At JM Clinical, we're passionate about improving awareness, supporting education and advancing research that makes a real difference to people's lives.
