38TH NATIONAL CONFERENCE AND INTERNATONAL WORKSHOP
ON 11 & 12 SEPTEMBER 2026, FRIDAY & SATURDAY

1 August 2028: The 38th National Conference of the Bangladesh Society of Ultrasonography will be held at Hotel Pan Pacific Sonargaon Dhaka and at BIAM Foundation, 63 New Eskaton, Dhaka on 11 & 12 September 2026, Friday & Saturday. First day is for “Dr. Fauzia Moslem Oration”, Conference, Scientific Sessions, AGM, Cultural Events and Annual Dinner. Second Day is for a Daylong Workshop on “Ultrasound First and Ultrasound Last”. Resource Personnel from Vietnam, Pakistan, India, Sri Lanka, and Bangladesh will be present. About 300 delegates are expected to join and enjoy the programs. National and International Resource Personnel are expected to be present at the conference and workshop.

👉The "kissing ovaries" sign on ultrasound indicates a severe form of pelvic endometriosis, where both ovaries are positioned close together, touching or adhering behind the uterus (pouch of Douglas). This occurs due to dense adhesions from endometriomas pulling the ovaries to the midline, often signaling advanced disease.

👉Key Features and Findings:
✍ī¸Location: Ovaries are found in close proximity in the posterior cul-de-sac/pouch of Douglas.
✍ī¸Adhesions: The ovaries appear fixed (lack mobility) and are stuck together or to the posterior uterine wall.
✍ī¸Endometriomas: Commonly associated with bilateral ovarian endometriomas (chocolate cysts).
Significance: Strongly associated with severe, deep infiltrating endometriosis, requiring specialized surgical care.

👉Clinical Implications:
✍ī¸Symptoms: Frequently accompanied by severe chronic pelvic pain, dysmenorrhea, dyspareunia, and infertility.
✍ī¸Diagnosis: Primarily detected via transvaginal ultrasound or MRI, showing ovaries that cannot be separated by ultrasound probe pressure.
✍ī¸Treatment: Often requires referral to an endometriosis specialist for surgical evaluation due to high risk of severe pelvic adhesions.

While almost always associated with endometriosis, the sign can also appear in rare cases of severe pelvic inflammatory disease (PID) with a pelvic abscess.
