Closeness does not have to mean losing individuality. A healthy connection can leave room for two complete people to remain themselves.

::What Self-Awareness Really Means ::
Self-awareness is often described as knowing yourself.
But knowing your preferences, strengths, weaknesses, and personality is only part of it.
A deeper form of self-awareness begins when we become interested in what is happening inside us while life is happening around us.
For example, imagine someone criticizes you.
The first reaction may be defensiveness.
Instead of immediately asking, “How can I prove them wrong?” self-awareness invites another question:
Why did those words affect me so strongly?
Perhaps the criticism was unfair. Perhaps it touched an insecurity. Perhaps there is some truth in it that is uncomfortable to see.
Self-awareness does not mean assuming that every criticism is correct. It means becoming curious about your own reaction.
The same applies to jealousy, anger, attachment, fear, and even attraction.
We often know what we feel, but rarely stop to examine how the feeling was created.
A situation happens.
Then the mind interprets it.
The interpretation creates an emotion.
The emotion creates an impulse.
And the impulse influences our behaviour.
When we begin observing this process, we can see ourselves more clearly.
This kind of observation is not about constantly analyzing yourself. Too much analysis can become another form of overthinking.
Awareness is simpler.
Notice the thought.
Notice the feeling.
Notice the reaction.
Then remain curious.
You may discover that some of what you call “your personality” is actually a collection of habits, fears, memories, expectations, and learned responses.
And once something can be observed clearly, it becomes possible to relate to it differently.
Self-awareness is therefore not about creating a perfect version of yourself.
It is about seeing yourself honestly enough that you no longer have to be controlled by what you do not understand.
