PCOS =PMOS

PMOS

Polyendocrine Metabolic Ovarian Syndrome (PMOS) is the official updated name for polycystic o***y syndrome (PCOS), agreed upon by global medical consensus in May 2026 to better reflect that the condition involves whole-body hormone and metabolic health rather than just ovarian cysts.

What PMOS Stands For

• P — Polyendocrine: Multiple hormone systems are involved.
• M — Metabolic: Higher long-term risks for metabolic issues like insulin resistance and type 2 diabetes.
• O — Ovarian: Immature follicles may appear on an ultrasound (though not in every person).
• S — Syndrome: A collection of physical and mental health signs.

Common Symptoms

1• Irregular or missed periods: Fewer than 8 periods a year, very heavy bleeding, or unpredictable cycles.
2• High androgen effects: Excess facial or body hair (hirsutism), male-pattern scalp hair thinning, or severe acne.
3• Metabolic signs: Difficulty losing weight, stubborn belly fat, fatigue, or dark velvety patches of skin (acanthosis nigricans).
4• Fertility challenges: Trouble ovulating regularly or conceiving

Causes and Diagnosis

• Causes: The exact cause remains unknown, though it is strongly linked to genetics, high androgen levels, and insulin resistance

• Diagnosis:
When at least two of the following are present:
irregular cycles,
signs of high androgens (via blood test or physical symptoms), or
polycystic ovarian morphology via ultrasound or an anti-Müllerian hormone (AMH) blood test.

Management and Treatment

• Lifestyle: Balanced nutrition, regular physical activity, and weight management.
• Medications: Hormonal birth control pills to regulate cycles, metformin to improve insulin sensitivity, or anti-androgen treatments.
• Fertility support: Specialized medications like letrozole to help induce ovulation if pregnancy is desired.

Rafi র চোখে একটা মায়া ছিল।
শেষের দিকে ভয় টা বাড়ছিল।
নর্মাল ডেলিভারির ভয়।
কখনো কাঁদতো, কখনো হাসি।
কিন্তু কেমন যেন একটা অনিশ্চয়তা!
শেষ পর্যন্ত আর pain টা নিতে পারছিল না।
সিজারিয়ান করতে হল at midway and at midnight due to maternal request and we got thick meconium stained baby during section..
