Imagine walking down a busy street and seeing someone in distress.

You look around.

There are dozens of people nearby.

Surely someone else will help...

But what if everyone is thinking the exact same thing?

This is the Bystander Effect—a psychological phenomenon where the presence of others can reduce our likelihood of taking action.

The good news? Awareness changes behavior.

If you're witnessing an emergency, don't wait for someone else to act. Be the person who steps forward. And if you need help yourself, don't call out to the crowd—identify one person directly and ask them for a specific action.

Sometimes, one person's decision to act is all it takes to save a life.

💚 Swipe to understand why this happens—and how to overcome it.
