Air Bel Research Club
With the project 'Air Bel research club', Ief Spincemaille immerses himself during 10 days in the neighborhood of Air Bel in Marseille, surrounded by a vast collection of over 300 footballs. With the collection Spincemaille employs various interventions and structures that seamlessly merge into the fabric of everyday life for both individuals and objects.
These interventions serve as tangible manifestations of three key concepts central to relational art and Spincemaille's artistic process: Liminality, Correspondence, and Transducer. Each intervention artfully blurs the boundaries between art and life, blurring the lines between the physical and the conceptual.
Simultaneously, an in-situ museum is created, meticulously archiving these interventions and the encounters they generate. This museum aims to foster dialogue, elucidate abstract ideas surrounding relational art, and foster fresh perspectives among audiences removed from the conventional art and research realms. By prioritizing public spaces as creative arenas, rather than confining artistic expression to traditional museum settings, this project emphasizes the vital role of radical ambiguity, profound uncertainty, and collective engagement in crafting transformative aesthetic and intellectual experiences.
The Air Bel research club transcends the mere display of finished artworks; it ignites a spark within the daily lives of individuals and objects, igniting an infinite loop of imagination and creation, care and reception, assembly and deconstruction. This loop gracefully weaves together the threads of connection between people and things, guests and residents, ultimately fostering a dynamic ecosystem of artistic exploration and expression.
