This week, I attended a yoga class at a very nice gym with a friend. I’m at a place in my cycle where I needed 🧘🏻♀️ verses a hardcore workout. I’m not into kickin my own butt working out but I certainly wasn’t there energetically that day.
And I, um, got BOTH. Out of the gate, the yoga teacher didn’t hold back! And I thought, “oh... OK! So we’re doing this!” And I asked my body gently to go to its limit with caution. I had walked a bit on the treadmill, I felt warmed up.
However, midway through class, in a very unfamiliar transition, I felt it- that twinge in my low back. I checked in, “was I pushing too much?” Not consciously. Lovingly, I asked more of my body than it was ready for and this was its response...”stop. Breathe. Check your EGO. 😬👀” so I decided to rest in child’s pose and be there. With all.the.feelings, and with my body, ego, and ❤️. I asked myself, which voice was telling me to slow down and listen and which was berating me for not being “enough?” Which voice was louder? Which one was more loving?
I am not here to win at yoga. I am in a body that carries me successfully through each day, grew and fed two babies and is changing each day. I need to meet myself in each moment wherever I am. It’s my work. Maybe it’s yours, too?
For me, I don’t care how many vinyasas I am able to do. I care how my body, mind and heart feels IN the poses and after.
🧘🏻♀️✨🌿
And I love sharing yoga with my students who know I get those challenges. I strive to hold space for others to learn their capacity and edges within themselves while also cultivating love. ❤️
Join me on your May March 13-15 as we share a weekend of sacred yoga and meditation at ! Link to register is in our bio👆🏻♥️
