MY FORMULA TO FARMING
My formula for farming is working with others. I give them spaces, resources and labour to do their agriculture projects in my farm. I try my best to support them so that they make money and don't fail. I try my best to make the farm comfortable and help them market their products so that they win. I need them to win because I need them more than they need me. They don't just pay me rental, but they are also supervisors. Imagine having over 40 supervisors, monitoring 1 farm. My employees cannot dodge because a tenant can come to the farm any time. They help me to keep the workers happy because when they come ba ba tlela bo borothonyana kana drink or something to motivate them. Ke gore they are always motivated and monitored.
Most people are cruel. Ba fa motho space to do business then when the person starts making money, ba mo koba. Nna ga ke kobe ope. I want them to do their eggs with my support and make money. I don't compete with them and I plan ahead to help them expand. I want each tenant to end up with a minimum of 200 layers, and a kraal for goats or sheep. My tenants ga ba tsewe ke phefo. They are mature and business minded. Some of them are from the project ya 0.7 & they are progressing.
Organisations like LEA have started approaching the farm with interest to offer support. My language is simple. I want them to secure a reliable market for my tenants products, offer them mentorship and help them expand into production of feeds, trays and organic manure. The value chain. My tenants are producing over 30 000 eggs every week and planning to double production to 60 000. I am good at using the power of numbers to negotiate. Le fa ke ba bonela market I don't increase rental or start saying le nna ke dira Di layers. Nna ke WA rental fela. My tenants ba duela P900 per month for a single unit with water, labour, security and a cage for layers. They are allowed to bring in an extra cage at no extra cost.
