Today,28th July 2026 is World Hepatitis Day commemorated under the campaign theme," Let's break it down."
The theme is a call to remove barriers that stand between people and services that can save lives.
Hepatitis is an inflammation of the liver.Virus are the most common cause of hepatitis.It can be self-limiting or can progress to fibrosis(scarring),cirrhosis or liver cancer.
The common signs and symptoms include:
•Jaundice: skin and eyes turn a yellow colour.
•Tiredness: Feeling very weak and low on energy.
•Stomach pain: Soreness in the upper right side of your belly.
•Changes in waste: Dark urine and light-colored waste.
•Sickness: Feeling like throwing up,or losing appetite.
ACTION STEPS FOR THE PUBLIC
▪︎Get tested for hepatitis B and C. Ask your local clinic about screening tests.
▪︎Get vaccinated.
▪︎Learn the facts and talk to your healthcare provider(local clinic) about testing and treatment.
All Healthcare Workers in Scottish Livingstone Hospital are encouraged to take their doses at the Staff Clinic today,28th July 2026 from 0830 until 12:30.
