Today,28th July 2026 is World Hepatitis Day commemorated under the campaign theme," Let's break it down."

The theme is a call to remove barriers that stand between people and services that can save lives.

Hepatitis is an inflammation of the liver.Virus are the most common cause of hepatitis.It can be self-limiting or can progress to fibrosis(scarring),cirrhosis or liver cancer.

The common signs and symptoms include:

•Jaundice: skin and eyes turn a yellow colour.
•Tiredness: Feeling very weak and low on energy.
•Stomach pain: Soreness in the upper right side of your belly.
•Changes in waste: Dark urine and light-colored waste.
•Sickness: Feeling like throwing up,or losing appetite.

ACTION STEPS FOR THE PUBLIC
▪︎Get tested for hepatitis B and C. Ask your local clinic about screening tests.
▪︎Get vaccinated.
▪︎Learn the facts and talk to your healthcare provider(local clinic) about testing and treatment.

All Healthcare Workers in Scottish Livingstone Hospital are encouraged to take their doses at the Staff Clinic today,28th July 2026 from 0830 until 12:30.

FNBB FOUNDATION HANDS OVER THE REFURBISHED PAEDIATRIC WARD INDOOR AND OUTDOOR PLAY AREA

Scottish Livingstone Hospital received a donation of the refurbished Paediatric Ward Indoor and Outdoor play area this morning,23rd July 2026.

The donation was handed over by First National Bank Botswana(FNBB) Foundation as an initiative that forms part of its Corporate Social Responsibility programme.

When giving the FNBB Foundation mandate,Ms. Chebukani Nkobodo who is the Foundation Coordinator(South) outlined the mandate as an initiative that empowers communities through sustainable development projects and highlighted that the Paediatric Ward Indoor and Outdoor play area was refurbished to provide a welcoming, safe and child friendly environment for the children.

Dr. Tuduetso Goomo-Ncube,the Head of Department and also the hospital Paediatrician extended her sincere appreciation by emphasizing the importance of play in early childhood and noted play as an integral part of every child's growth as it helps them navigate their early years.

She said that the handing over of the project and the support by the FNBB Foundation will leave a legacy for generations of all children from different areas within and outside the Kweneng district who receive care at the hospital.
As part of the handover ceremony,representatives from the FNBB Foundation,village leadership and the hospital management engaged in a symbolic tree-planting activity,the initiative which underscored the Foundation's commitment to environmental sustainability while creating a lasting legacy of its partnership with Scottish Livingstone Hospital.

The ceremony was graced by the Kweneng District village leadership,Kgosi Kebonyethebe Kgari,representative from the District Commissioner's office,representatives from Member of Parliaments'(Molepolole North and South Offices),Hospital management,FNBB Foundation representatives as well as the FNBB Molepolole Branch and healthcare workers.

SCOTTISH LIVINGSTONE HOSPITAL INFRASTRUCTURE ASSESSMENT CONCLUDES

The Health Infrastructure Assessment exercise in Scottish Livingstone Hospital conducted by a multidisciplinary team of engineers from the Ministry of Health and other supporting institutions, has successfully concluded. The assessment was carried out from 13 to 17 July 2026.

The team comprised professionals from various engineering disciplines, including Architecture, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Civil and Structural Engineering, Quantity Surveying, Information and Communication Technology (ICT), and Biomedical Engineering.

The five-day exercise was aimed at assessing the hospital's infrastructure, equipment, and engineering systems to identify areas requiring maintenance, rehabilitation, upgrading, or replacement. The findings and recommendations from the assessment will help inform future planning and guide interventions to improve the hospital's infrastructure and ensure the continued delivery of quality healthcare services.
