INTEREST CHECK: TTRPG SOCIAL SKILLS GROUP

We're exploring the possibility of offering a TTRPG (Tabletop Role Playing Game) Social Skills Group and would love to hear from families who might be interested.

Using collaborative storytelling and role playing adventures, participants would have opportunities to practice:

• Communication and conversation skills
• Teamwork and cooperation
• Problem solving and flexible thinking
• Perspective taking and empathy
• Confidence in social situations

TTRPGs create a fun, engaging environment where young people can build meaningful social connections while working together to overcome challenges and create memorable stories.

No previous role playing game experience would be required. Whether your child is an experienced adventurer or completely new to TTRPGs, this group would be designed to be welcoming and accessible to all experience levels. If this is something your child might enjoy, please reach out and let us know. Expressions of interest will help us determine age groupings, scheduling, and future offerings.

When you contact us, please include your child's age and any availability preferences. This information will help us create groups that best meet the needs of interested families.

Email us at [email protected] to express your interest or ask questions.

Starting kindergarten is a big milestone for both children and parents. For some children, the transition feels exciting. For others, it can bring worries about separation, new routines, making friends, and navigating an unfamiliar classroom environment.

Our Kindergarten Readiness Group is designed to help children build confidence and develop the skills they need to feel prepared for their first day of school. Through fun, play based activities, children will practice following routines, building friendships, managing big emotions, developing independence, and becoming more comfortable with classroom expectations.

This small group experience provides a supportive space for children to learn, grow, and gain confidence before September. To register or learn more, contact [email protected]

Does your child often forget instructions, lose track of what they’re doing, or feel overwhelmed at school? It may be more than distraction, it could be related to working memory.

Working memory is the brain’s ability to hold and use information in the moment. Children use it constantly throughout the day to follow directions, complete tasks, solve problems, regulate emotions, and keep up with learning.

When working memory is struggling, children may:
- Forget multi-step instructions
- Lose their place while reading or doing math
- Have difficulty starting or finishing tasks
- Need frequent reminders
- Become frustrated, anxious, or emotionally overwhelmed
- Appear inattentive or “not listening”
- Struggle with confidence at school

Over time, these challenges can impact not only academics, but also self-esteem, emotional regulation, and relationships with teachers, peers, and family. The good news? With the right understanding and support, children can build strategies that help them feel more successful and confident both at school and at home.

Psychoeducational assessments can help identify strengths, challenges, and the supports that may best help your child thrive. 💛

Sometimes what looks like “defiance” is actually overwhelm. Sometimes “laziness” is really burnout. Sometimes “attitude” is anxiety that doesn’t have words yet. Children and teens don’t always say “I’m struggling” — they show us.

As parents, shifting from “What’s wrong with my child?” to “What might my child need right now?” can change everything.

Try this:
Instead of correcting right away, get curious:
“I wonder if that felt really hard.”
“I can see you’re upset—want help or space?”

Support doesn’t mean lowering expectations; it means understanding what’s underneath the behaviour so we can respond, not just react.

You don’t have to figure it out alone.

Learning differences often overlap—and they’re often misunderstood.

They are:
❌ Not laziness
❌ Not lack of intelligence
✅ Different ways of processing

Support looks like:
• Flexibility
• Patience
• Strength-based approaches

The goal isn’t to “fix” people—it’s to support how they learn best.

✍️ Dysgraphia affects writing—physically and mentally.

It can look like:
• Messy or slow handwriting
• Trouble organizing thoughts on paper

What it feels like:
📝 Your ideas are clear—but hard to get onto the page

Support helps:
✔ Typing or speech-to-text
✔ Less focus on handwriting
✔ Flexible ways to show knowledge

Effort ≠ output here.

Dyscalculia affects how people understand numbers.

It can look like:
• Difficulty with basic math
• Trouble telling time or estimating
• Numbers that just don’t “stick”

What it feels like:
⏱ Even simple calculations can feel overwhelming

Support helps:
✔ Visual aids
✔ Step-by-step breakdowns
✔ Real-world examples

It’s more than “being bad at math.”
