Summer is one of my favourite times of year… but if you have ADHD, it can also make eating feel so much harder.
I know every summer I lose a lot of the structure that helps me stay on track. Before I know it, I’m forgetting to eat, snacking all day, or realizing it’s 3 pm and I still haven’t had lunch. 😅
Without your usual routine, it’s really common to:
• Forget to eat until you’re starving
• Snack all day but never feel satisfied (🙋♀️ me)
• Skip meals because you’re busy having fun
• Feel like you’re always trying to catch up with food
If this sounds like you, you’re definitely not the only one.
One thing that really helps me is having 3 food anchors: a go-to breakfast, lunch, and dinner that I can count on most days. They don’t have to be fancy. They just make eating one less thing I have to think about.
And yes, every photo in this post is from my own summer vacation. I wanted to show that even as an ADHD dietitian, my eating isn’t perfect either. I still need simple, realistic strategies that make life easier.
Small changes really do add up. 💙
