Thank you to everyone who attended our Something to Say – Silent Lunch and helped make the day so meaningful.
This event was created to give our community a small glimpse into what communication can feel like when speech is limited, unavailable, or not the easiest option. During a simple lunch, we communicate constantly through ordering food, making small talk, asking questions, sharing jokes, fixing misunderstandings, connecting with the people around us.
For many children and families, communication looks different every day. It may happen through AAC, gestures, facial expressions, pointing, writing, pictures, movement, or support from a trusted communication partner.
Because communication is not just speech.
Communication is connection.
Because of the support shown at this event, we are able to send a group of children to Allied Therapy summer groups this summer. This is giving them the chance to build skills, make friends, and create summer memories in a space designed with communication access in mind.
We are grateful to our event supporters, including and , for helping make this possible.
Thank you to our MLA, Mr. Damian Stoilov, and our MP, Mr. Braedon Clark, for joining us and showing support for communication accessibility in our community.
Thank you as well to Mindful Therapies , MacNevin Law, the Maritime Conservatory , , Your Curves, parents and friends of Therapy, and everyone who contributed, donated, attended, shared, encouraged, and cheered us on.
And finally, a huge thank you to the Allied Therapy team. Your care, creativity, and commitment made this event what it was.
Every child has something to say.
Thank you for helping us make more space for them to be heard.
