In Flow with Natalie Loves Movement & Flow, Photography, Creativity, Yoga teacheršŸ§˜šŸ»ā€ā™€ļø Student of life After almost 30 years in my professional career, I've been "finding my flow".

Outside the office, my passion was always learning about health, nutrition, fitness and health-span - educating myself in this arena throughout most of my adult life. I've always loved movement, spending much of my career chasing intense fitness classes, running and pushing myself hard. - convinced that the only way to balance long days at a desk was to push myself even harder outside work. I even

tually discovered this was not the right path! A few years ago I fell in love with yoga, discovering that its benefits went beyond fitness, finding the value of breath in movement, and so much more. Beyond the mat, I believe in living the ethical principles of yoga, the yamas and niyamas. I maintain my personal yoga practice, teach, and continue to enjoy all movement (walking, SUP, kayaking,& BODi workouts (for over 15 years). I love to photography, painting, and finding the awe in the simple beauty of a moment. My passion for learning about well-being and health continues, and I maintain a clean-eating lifestyle. In 2024 I completed a 40 HR kundalini yoga course (Shanti) , and Level 1 Qigong (Halifax Yoga); and in 2025, I obtained my 200 HR YTT certification (Shanti School of Traditional Yoga, Dartmouth NS). I am working toward my 300 HR training to achieve 500 HR designation. I am also a Member of the Yoga Alliance. As a yoga teacher, and a forever student of yoga, I want to share yoga with others. I am currently teaching smaller group classes, where I offer a welcoming space for individuals (businesses also welcome)to experience the value of breath and movement, awareness in body and mind; taking that needed pause to maintain balance. I also strongly believe that we can incorporate the values of yoga in the workplace - for both personal balance, and corporate success. I have many ideas on this topic that I feel can serve the workplace well. I also host and produce a podcast "The Finding Sessions", sharing reflections on life, and guided meditations. It's my hope that in sharing these reflections and meditations it may help others who may be on their own journey of self-discovery. [This particular project has been a personal one for me - and one that allowed me to break through my professional mask, and my fear of being honest with myself, and others]. In this next phase, I want to share all that is in FLOW - movement, yoga, art, photography, creativity, and positivity. "My wish for you is to live in positivity, health and harmony".

Just sharing a very informative video on foot health! The importance of strong feet, toe splay, and wearing appropriate footwear ! Worth watching. ļæ¼

Dang, I wish I didn’t spend 30+ years, wearing high heels most of the time ( in the name of fashion!). Now I don’t wear heels at all (pretty much can’t )

While I know there has recently been an increased tendency for menopause to be blamed for all kinds of issues, including hip issues, and other aches and pains, we have to consider that the mechanical changes to our bodies after decades of sitting at a desk and wearing high heels, etc., etc. had to have played some role, and possibly a significant one.

Not to mention, when we stop wearing heels, our body has to adjust to a completely different posture, movement, etc. I’m pretty sure it’s possible that some of the hip pain and other issues comes from the adjustments our bodies have to make after what may seem like sudden changes to footwear, movement patterns, etc.

Hopefully, the younger generations of women will avoid squeezing their feet into high heels like we did!

(PS, this is not an episode focussed on dementia, it’s more about the feet and foot health. Unfortunately, the titles that are often given are intended to draw more attention I guess!}

On the theme of flow and movement… ļæ¼Sharing a short clip from a super interesting longer interview I listened to this week. The importance of movement and mobility and ways we can continue to maintain it as we age.

In this clip from Dr. Rhonda Patrick's interview of Dr. Kelly Starrett, they discuss:• Why does sitting on the floor matter?• Can you regain mobility at any ...

Tomorrow is Mother’s Day. The day we celebrate all moms, in all forms. Whether we are mothers to our own children, stepmoms, fur-baby moms; and we also celebrate our own mothers in whatever form, whether missing our moms who are no longer here, and those moms who we are fortunate to have with us.

So in reflecting on Mother’s Day, aside from just moms - I want to celebrate all women. All of you! who have a mother, or many mothers, and who have mothered in one way or another. Tomorrow, celebrate yourself!

I’m attaching a link to a meditation I wrote and practice, that is perfect for waking up in the morning (and it’s perfect for everyone, not just women !)

I offer it to you as maybe the first little gift to give to yourself in the morning when you wake up and are still sleepy and laying in bed. It’s a message to give you the space to appreciate who you are, to love yourself, and to sense all of the possibilities out there in the world that are there for you. It’s a little gift to start your day tomorrow, Mother’s Day, with perhaps some added light and positivity šŸ’•

Just sharing my message of the day! I hope it speaks to someone out there who may need it ! The patterns in our daily lives are repeated each day, experiences of the past being relived over and over. Even for those little habits every day. When we repeat actions of the past, thoughts of the past, old behaviors, we’re just reliving the past. Sometimes we’re afraid of the unknown, but the unknown can break the patterns of the past and open us up to new possibilities. So, today my message to you, is be open to the unknown. Give it a try.

Check out your favourite podcast player for my latest episode on The Finding Sessions . In this episode, I share my thoughts on why the things we work and wait for often mean more to us — and how the energy we put into something can shape the way we value it. Sometimes it’s the effort, the patience it takes to get there, and sometimes even a little bit of a struggle, that helps us appreciate the outcome and what we achieve . This can ultimately create that sense of deeper contentment and gratitude in life

In a world of quick fixes and instant access, I explore the difference between fleeting satisfaction and a deeper sense of meaning…and invite you to reflect on what’s truly worth your energy.

Walk in my city like a tourist again! Some of my favourite days are going into the city and just walking around with a new set of eyes! We went for a walk this past week in downtown Halifax, it was sunny and chilly, a perfect March day. Stopped at a little art gallery, talked to the lovely artist and browsed the work, grabbed a cappuccino and enjoyed all of the little discoveries! I was struck by this gorgeous mural on a Barrington Street building. The mood evoked in the image fit perfectly with the day.šŸ’• ā¤ļø ā™„ļø

I heard this quote this morning, and I thought it was worth repeating- ā€œAllow Life to Surprise You!ā€

Sometimes we want to always control the outcome, and maybe even miss the present moment because our only focus is on a future goal.

When we’re attached to outcomes, it can lead to disappointment. Don’t be attached to the outcome, allow life to surprise you. šŸ˜ŠšŸ’•

I hope you have a beautiful dayā¤ļø

Ever heard of facia? It’s a 3-D web of connective tissue network that wraps around and supports every muscle, bone, organ, nerve, and blood vessel. Think of it as a full-body, 3D casing or "Saran Wrap" that holds your entire body together and gives it structure.

Fascia is a sophisticated communication system. It’s rich with nerve endings, meaning it plays a huge role in how you feel pain and how your body senses its position in space. When your fascia is healthy, it is hydrated and supple, allowing your muscles to glide past one another effortlessly.

The importance of moving it:
When we stay still—like when we sleep or sit at a desk—this tissue can become "sticky." Over time, if we don't move through our full range of motion, these layers can practically bond together, leading to stiffness and restricted movement. Moving your body literally "melts" these bonds, keeping your internal tissues sliding and gliding.

When we wake up in the morning, that automatic movement of stretching, sometimes it happens at the same time we yawn, (in my mind) - you know, that first stretch you take in the morning while still in bed and yawning? - seems to remind me of all of the interconnected fascia throughout my body waking up!

This morning, I woke up, thinking about the fuzz speech, which I watched during my yoga teacher training because it’s an amazing way to better understand the fascia system in our bodies! I thought it would be helpful to share it for anyone who really wants to get it. Understanding the importance of movement and its impact on fascia could change your life!

The Fuzz Speech:
Below is a fairly famous talk by Gil Hedley, an integral anatomist, called "The Fuzz."

It’s pretty short, but effective.
Viewer warning: he does deal with cadavers to illustrate what he’s talking about so if this is not your thing pass on the video, but I highly recommend for anyone who’s open to it!
