People ask me if my seasonal gatherings are witchy. 🍂🌙

I suppose that depends on what you mean by witchy.

If you've ever celebrated the changing seasons, prepared your home for winter, felt grateful for the harvest or bought a pumpkin because somehow September arrived and it just felt necessary… I've got news for you. 😂

This Sunday we're celebrating Mabon, the Fall Equinox.

It’s the point in the Wheel of the Year when day and night stand equal, and we begin saying goodbye to summer and preparing for the darker half of the year.

And if you've watched the video and thought, “That actually sounds lovely, but I've never been to anything like this…” you are exactly who I want to reassure.

You don't need to know anything about Mabon. You don't need experience with circles. You don't need to identify as a witch or follow any particular spiritual path.

You just need to come as you are.

We’ll gather, laugh, connect, acknowledge what this season has given us and make a little space for what we're ready to leave behind.

There is an old saying, chop wood, carry water, meaning that even after enlightenment, the ordinary tasks still need doing. Turns out they also make for a pretty perfect fall afternoon.

I spent the last few days stacking wood for the coming season, Moby supervising from a safe distance, which mostly meant lying in the one sunny patch of yard and occasionally lifting his head to check on my progress. The air had that particular fall crispness to it, and the whole yard smelled like drying leaves, which might be one of my favorite scents of the entire year.

I did have one unhappy neighbor about the whole thing. A little red squirrel was quite chattery about me disturbing his territory near the woodpile. In fairness to me, he already chewed himself an entrance straight into my garden shed, so I am finding it hard to feel too guilty about his outrage today.

Some good exercise, a little crisp air, and a very put out squirrel. Not a bad way to spend an afternoon.

So this is the tiny tenant who has taken over my garden shed, apparently without needing my permission for renovations. He recently installed his own door.

Then there is the yard, currently covered in rose hip debris because he has been feasting for weeks. The upside, if you can call it that, is that he is technically planting new rose bushes everywhere in the process. Free landscaping from a rodent with strong opinions about interior design.

Rose hips themselves are actually wonderful. They are loaded with vitamin C and have been used for generations to support the immune system and the skin, so I suppose he is spreading a little medicine along with the mess.

Red squirrels are considered a power animal of preparation, energy, and trusting the timing of things. I am focusing on that aspect of this squatter.

Moby is personally offended every time this little bandit dunks something in his water bowl like it is a private spa.

So here we are. Me, sarcastically gracious. Moby, unimpressed. One squirrel, thriving off my patience and my roses.

Every fairytale worth remembering has that scene. The evil queen at her mirror, murmuring the words that transform her into someone entirely different, someone the whole kingdom will not recognize.

Glamour magic is not quite that extreme, thankfully, but it comes from the very same idea. That we are not fixed. That with the right intention, the right small enchantment, we can choose which version of ourselves steps out into the world.

At its heart, glamour magic is the practice of shaping how you are perceived, by others and by your own reflection, through intention and a few deliberate touches of magic woven into the ordinary. It is about consciously calling forward the self you already are underneath, and letting the outside finally catch up to it.

Historically, a glamour was an enchantment cast to alter appearance, sometimes to hide, sometimes to reveal a truth too powerful to show plainly. Modern glamour magic draws from that same well. A scent worn like a charm. A piece of jewelry charged with intention before it touches your skin. The way you carry your shoulders into a room, chosen on purpose instead of out of habit.

If you want to try it, start simply. Before you get dressed, pause and ask yourself who you want to be today, then choose one small thing, a color, a scent, a piece of jewelry, and charge it with that intention before you put it on. Look in the mirror before you leave and actually see yourself, rather than just checking that everything is in place. And remember that the real spell was never the mirror or the potion. It was always the decision to believe it before anyone else did.

Maybe nothing is terribly wrong. But something isn't right.

You are exhausted. A little angry at life, if you are honest. Maybe lonely in ways you do not really talk about. You have spent so long holding everything together that you cannot remember what it feels like to simply not, and you cannot seem to shake whatever it is.

That is exactly who this video is for. It walks through what actually happens during a Reiki session at Red Sands Reiki, from the moment we sit down and start talking, through the ninety minutes that follow, to the quiet return back into the world afterward.

If your energy has been feeling tangled, blocked, or like something keeps getting in where it does not belong, I want to show you something simple you can do about it right now.

A sigil is desire turned into a symbol, and it is one of the oldest tricks in the craft. You take a word or a sentence, weave the letters into each other until they stop looking like language, and what is left behind speaks straight to the part of you that understands intention better than words ever could.

For this reel, I used a single word, protection. Ten letters, written in red, the color of warning. When I wove them together, they settled into the shape of a key, which felt fitting, since a key locks away what is not wanted.

I walk through the whole process here, it takes a pen, a piece of paper, and about two minutes.

I don't think anyone forgets that scene of witches in the kitchen, and the spoon stirring all by itself. Long before it was ever on a screen, it was already true. Tea was never just a drink.

Today mine is lemon lavender, and no, it is not pumpkin anything… not yet 😉

Lemon for clarity, cutting through the fog. Lavender for calm, softening whatever I am holding too tight.

As I stirred it, I traced a little star into the surface, then a heart, and set the intention right there in the cup before I ever took a sip.

That is the part so many people miss. It is not the herbs doing the magic on their own, it is the moment of actually pausing to ask for something, right there in your own kitchen, over something as ordinary as tea. So overlooked, and so simple.

The Wheel of the Year turns through eight sacred points, each one an invitation to pause and realign with the season we are actually in. Right now, we are moving toward Mabon, the autumn equinox, when day and night rest in perfect balance before the year tips toward its darker half.

It is a season for weighing what this year has cost you against what it has actually given you, and for releasing what you are finally ready to set down.

This year, I am holding a Mabon ceremony to walk through exactly that together. If grief has had nowhere to land, if you have been carrying everything for everyone else, or if you simply need one night to put it all down, this is for you.

Sound baths use the vibration of crystal and metal bowls to guide your brainwaves into a deeply relaxed state, the same state your body enters just before sleep. In that state, your nervous system gets a chance to actually rest instead of just cope.

Many people find it eases anxiety and racing thoughts, releases tension held in the body, improves sleep, and leaves you with a sense of clarity that lingers long after the last bowl goes quiet.

You do not need to do anything, meditate perfectly, or even stay fully awake. You simply lie down and let the sound do the work.
