A patient noticed their “11s” (vertical lines between eyebrows) softened for a few days after treatment - even though we weren’t directly treating them.

That wasn’t a collagen effect. It was a change in muscle tone and facial patterning.

When we influence the muscles that create those lines, we can temporarily shift how the skin folds at rest.

At first, it doesn’t last. The system returns to its default.

But those early changes tell us something important:
the pattern is modifiable.

This is where repetition matters - to retrain how the nerves and muscles function.

I’m often told that I should frame this work as “weight loss.”

That people won’t be able to find me or understand what I do otherwise.

But I strongly believe the language itself — and the layers of meaning behind it — are part of what keeps people stuck in the cycle I see so often:

perfection → relapse → shame → renewed effort.

The traditional weight-loss paradigm focuses on shrinking the body — usually through restriction, discipline, and overriding internal signals.

It is also often rooted in a subtle rejection of self.

And when the self is being rejected or punished, what the body actually needs rarely gets addressed at either end of the extremes people cycle between.

The physiology that allows body composition to change — and remain stable — depends on something different:

- self-respect and self-trust
- building healthy muscle mass & relationship with movement
- understanding and respecting our own limits and boundaries
- sleep quality
- nervous system regulation
- adequate nourishment and recovery

When these systems are supported and developed, body composition often changes — and the changes become integrated into life rather than existing as a temporary diet.

As a naturopathic doctor, I cannot stand behind a goal that is simply to “weigh less.”

We need to agree that the real work is building a stronger, more capable, responsive system.

That’s why I talk about sustainable body recomposition rather than weight loss.

It shifts the focus from shrinking yourself to strengthening the physiology that allows meaningful and lasting change.

I explain this framework in the free training I recently released.

I get it—high-quality protein powders can seem expensive up front. I used to hesitate too. But when I actually did the math… two scoops of the hydrolyzed beef protein I use (about 45g of protein) costs around $6 per day.

So I started asking myself:

👉 Is it worth $6 a day to feel full, energized, and clear-headed?
👉 Is it worth $6 to support my metabolism, reduce carb cravings, and stabilize my blood sugar?
👉 Is it worth $6 to give my body the amino acids it needs to repair, rebuild, and thrive—hormones, hair, neurotransmitters, muscles, skin, gut lining… all of it?

For me, it’s a yes. Because protein isn’t just a macro—it’s the foundation of nearly every structural and functional system in the body.

And if I’m going to spend money anywhere, I want it to be on something that gives me more capacity—not less.

What about you? Do you think it’s worth it?

Let’s talk Frownies (or facial taping) + facial tension.

We hold so much of our emotional experience in our faces—especially in response to stress, anxiety, overthinking, or concentration. Think furrowed brows, clenched jaws, and scrunched foreheads.

Over time, this becomes patterned: your muscles start to hold these expressions by default, even when you’re not feeling those emotions.
It’s called facial mimicry—a subconscious muscle memory of how we’ve learned to “wear” our feelings.

Frownies work by retraining these muscles to soften.
They create gentle resistance that reminds your facial muscles not to hold tension overnight—especially in areas like the glabella (11 lines) or forehead.

It’s not about freezing your face—it’s about reminding it to rest.

Walking around recording myself with a Frownie on my forehead turned out to be the perfect segue…
I’m currently completing an advanced certificate in facial acupuncture, and I’m so excited to begin offering this in practice soon.

Facial acupuncture is a natural, non-toxic approach to skin rejuvenation that also supports deeper health by regulating the nervous system, boosting circulation, and addressing underlying imbalances that affect the skin—from hormones to digestion to stress.

It’s not just about smoothing fine lines—it’s about restoring vitality from the inside out.

More to come soon. ✨🪡

Getting my steps in and showing up on social—both have been a challenge.

So I’m pairing them. Walk + talk. Movement + content.

This is called habit stacking—a strategy from James Clear that helps new habits stick by anchoring them to something you’re already doing.

Why it works:
• It leverages contextual cues (like time of day or place)
• It builds momentum through behavioral chaining
• It turns abstract goals into tangible actions
• It makes use of what’s already working instead of starting from scratch

And here’s the real part:
Showing up on video used to feel really uncomfortable for me.
But I’m working through it—just like many of my patients are working through the fear or resistance of showing up at the gym, or making that first nutrition change.

We’re all stepping into discomfort to grow.

Don’t wait for perfect. Start where you are. Stack the habit. Take the step. We’ll get better at it the more practice xo
