Are you a quiet sensitive person who has spent years trying to change yourself and feeling bad about who you are? I used to be like that too. I’m on a mission to help change the narrative that there is something wrong with us in our quietness 💕

The invisible labour that often comes with getting our kids to the hockey rink, planning tournaments, organizing fund raisers; a huge thank you to the hockey moms who make this happen 💕

When we’re quiet and sensitive it can be hard sometimes to be social. So we might be socially awkward…I find this especially difficult at hockey practices and games. I have to work on not talking negatively to myself when I’m not extroverted like the other parents. Any tips on how you manage this?

There really isn’t anything wrong with being quiet and sensitive. Many of us have been told in lots of ways this isn’t true so it takes some work to unlearn these teachings.

Any other socially awkward people out there?? For me it’s a pretty painful experience to go through; wanting to make connections but not being able to make it happen in a loud busy environment. Feel free to share any tips on how you manage being socially awkward 😬

Quiet sensitive parents feel deeply and think deeply, especially when it comes to parenting. We also can be quite hard on ourselves and only see our perceived mistakes. And in a world that overvalues extroversion we can see our quietness as failure. I see that we have so much to offer as quiet sensitive parents.

Many of us as highly sensitive people and Empaths can struggle with making friends and maintaining the friendship. We might decide this because we aren’t likeable. And then it’s even harder to show up. I’ve put together an online course that explains why this happens and how to change it. Stay tuned for when it’s released!

Lots happens during a hockey season; late nights, driving in bad weather, friendships made, exciting wins and devastating losses…this can be a lot for the highly sensitive hockey parent!

Sometimes we chose partners that are high maintenance and the focus is only on what they need and want. For more sensitive people, at first this can feel good to take care of someone. But often at some point we become aware that there really isn’t any space for what we need. It’s a quiet grief when we come to the conclusion that we matter very little to our partner.

Many of us have heard; you’re too quiet, you’re too sensitive and that judgement feels awful. It often leaves us trying to act like others or avoiding people as much as possible. But what if there is nothing at all wrong with being a quiet sensitive person? Because there isn’t, we’ve just been taught that.
