One of the things I love about guided inner work is that no two people experience it in quite the same way.

During a soul retrieval journey, one person might find themselves walking through an imagined landscape. Another may remember something they had forgotten.

Someone else might notice a colour, a sensation, an emotion, a symbol—or simply experience a quiet sense of knowing.

You don’t need to be highly visual. You don’t need previous experience with hypnosis or meditation. And you don’t need to make anything happen.

There is no “right” experience to have.

The invitation is simply to become curious about what emerges when the everyday thinking mind becomes quieter—and what part of yourself may be ready to be rediscovered.

You do not have to be in crisis before you begin caring for yourself differently.

Perhaps your life still looks fine from the outside.

You are working, caring for others, meeting your responsibilities, and doing what needs to be done. But inside, you may feel tired from holding everything together.

You may notice that you are more easily overwhelmed, that rest does not feel restorative, or that your mind rarely feels completely off duty.

These quieter signs matter too.

You are allowed to pay attention before your body has to shout. You are allowed to seek greater calm, ease, and balance even when you are still functioning well.

Noticing that something needs to change is reason enough to begin.

If bedtime is when your mind suddenly decides it has a thousand things to think about, you are not alone.

For many people, sleep difficulties aren't simply about being tired enough. The body may be ready for rest while the mind remains busy, alert, or caught in familiar patterns of thinking.

This fall, I'm offering **Restful Nights**, a three-part group series combining guided hypnotherapy and sound healing to support deeper relaxation and better sleep.

Across three evenings, we'll explore ways to quiet a busy mind, settle the nervous system, and develop a more supportive relationship with sleep.

Because the sessions build on one another, you'll also have time between sessions to practise what you're learning and discover what works for you.

The series includes:

• Three 75-minute group sessions
• Hypnotherapy and sound healing
• Practical sleep-support strategies
• Take-home handouts
• A self-hypnosis sleep audio recording for home practice

No previous experience with hypnosis is necessary.

**Fridays, October 16, 23 & 30**
**7:00–8:15 p.m.**
**Wildflower Yoga**
**$120 for the three-session series**

Rest is not always as simple as stopping.

When you are accustomed to anticipating what needs to be done, caring for others, or staying prepared for what might happen next, slowing down can feel surprisingly uncomfortable.

Your body may be still while your mind continues making lists, replaying conversations, or searching for the next problem to solve.

This does not mean you are bad at relaxing.

It may mean that alertness has become familiar—and that calm is something your nervous system needs time and practice to experience safely.

Rest does not have to be earned. And learning to feel at ease can happen gradually, one small moment at a time.

Sometimes we can move through life quite capably and still have a sense that something of ourselves has been left behind.

A difficult relationship. A loss. A transition. A period when simply getting through took everything we had.

In spiritual traditions, *soul retrieval* describes the process of reconnecting with aspects of ourselves that may feel lost, forgotten, or distant.

On October 1, I’ll be offering **Soul Retrieval: A Guided Journey to Wholeness** at Soulfood Books & Crystals.

Through deep relaxation, hypnotic imagery, and gentle inner exploration, you’ll be invited to connect with an aspect of yourself that is ready to be rediscovered—and to explore the qualities, wisdom, or strengths it may be ready to bring back into your life now.

There is no right way to experience the journey. You may encounter memories, symbols, sensations, emotions, imagined landscapes, or simply a quiet sense of knowing.

The intention is reconnection: not becoming someone new, but perhaps coming home to more of yourself.

You can understand exactly why you react the way you do and still find yourself having the same response.

You may know that the situation is safe. You may recognize where the pattern began. You may even know what you would prefer to think or feel instead.

And yet, your body may continue to respond as though the old danger is still present.

This does not mean you have failed to understand yourself deeply enough.

Sometimes change requires more than insight. It requires a new felt experience—one in which the mind and body have an opportunity to practise calm, safety, confidence, or choice.

We do not always heal by explaining the old response. Sometimes we begin to heal by experiencing something different.

People often wonder whether hypnosis will feel strange or whether they will lose control.

For most people, hypnosis feels more familiar than they expect.

It may feel like becoming absorbed in a good book, drifting just before sleep, or realizing that you have driven a familiar route without consciously noticing every turn.

You remain aware. You can hear what is being said, speak when you choose, and decide whether a suggestion feels right for you.

There is no single “correct” way to experience hypnosis. Some people notice vivid images, while others experience sensations, thoughts, memories, or simply a sense of deep rest.

You do not have to force anything. Your experience can unfold in the way that feels most natural to you.

High-functioning anxiety does not always look like panic or an inability to cope.

It can look like being prepared, responsible, productive, and dependable.

You may be the person others turn to—the one who keeps everything organized and rarely lets anything fall through the cracks.

Underneath that competence, however, there may be a mind that is constantly anticipating, reviewing, planning, and trying to prevent something from going wrong.

The fact that you can keep going does not mean it is not costing you.

Sometimes anxiety hides behind capability.

07/29/2026

The same situation can feel manageable one day and overwhelming the next.

That is because your nervous system is continually making predictions about safety—often before your conscious mind has had time to evaluate what is happening.

When your system is already carrying stress, it may interpret an ordinary demand, conversation, or uncertainty as something more threatening. Nothing outside of you has necessarily changed, but your internal experience has.

Hypnotherapy can help create new experiences of calm, safety, and possibility, giving the nervous system something different to draw upon.

This can be especially relevant for capable women who appear calm and competent while living with persistent anxiety beneath the surface.

Sometimes, the first step is simply recognizing that your response makes sense.

06/17/2026

Many people assume safety comes from circumstances.
When I finish this project...When I solve this problem...When life settles down...
Then I'll feel better.
But what if safety isn't something that happens around us?
What if safety is something happening within us?
The same conversation can feel threatening one day and manageable the next.
The same challenge can feel overwhelming one day and workable the next.
Often the difference isn't the situation.
It's the state of the nervous system experiencing it.
✨ Have you ever noticed this?
