🌞 Extreme Heat Advisory 🌞

Extreme heat is expected across all Stoney Nakoda Nations reserve areas over the next 3–4 days, with temperatures reaching the low to mid-30s. Smoke from nearby wildfires may also affect air quality.

Please stay safe:
💧 Drink plenty of water.
🌳 Stay in the shade or air-conditioned spaces when possible.
☀️ Avoid being outside during the hottest part of the day.
🚗 Never leave children, Elders, or pets in a vehicle.
❤️ Check in on Elders, young children, people with health concerns, and anyone living alone.

If you or someone else shows signs of heat exhaustion or heat stroke, call 9-1-1 immediately.

Stay cool, stay hydrated, and take care of one another. 💙

Current Update:

* Smoke from wildfires in British Columbia is affecting air quality in our SNN communities.
* Current air quality levels:
* Eden Valley: 5 – Moderate Risk
* Mînî Thnî: 7 – High Risk
* Bighorn: 6 – Moderate Risk
* In Mînî Thnî, people should avoid spending long periods working outdoors. Elders, infants, and anyone with breathing concerns should stay indoors as much as possible.

Looking Ahead:

* SNN Emergency Management will continue to monitor air quality in all communities.
* There is a chance of showers in Mînî Thnî today, which may help improve air quality.
* Warmer temperatures tomorrow (around 27°C) could make conditions worse if the smoke does not move out of the area.
* If air quality reaches 8 (Very High Risk) in any community, a public alert will be issued.

💧 Water Conservation in Effect – Eden Valley 💧

Attention Eden Valley community members!

Please be advised that water conservation is now in effect. We kindly ask everyone to do their part to help reduce water usage until further notice.

Here are a few simple ways you can help:
💦 Keep showers short.
🚰 Turn off the tap while brushing your teeth or washing dishes.
🧺 Only run full loads of laundry and dishes.
🌱 Limit outdoor watering and avoid unnecessary water use.

If you have a leaking tap, a toilet that won’t stop running, or a tap that won’t turn off, please contact Barry as soon as possible so it can be repaired. Small leaks can waste a significant amount of water, and fixing them quickly helps everyone.

Every drop counts! Thank you for doing your part to help conserve water and protect our community’s water supply. 💙
