The trend no one asked for 😅

Throwback Thursday to 1986, when Encompass Sports Therapy first opened its doors in an alternate neon universe. 📼⚡️

Our treatment protocols looked a little different back then:

Dry Needling: Replaced entirely by hyper-targeted neon leg warmer heat therapy.

Gait Analysis: Conducted exclusively while listening to synth-wave on a Sony Walkman.

Spinal Decompression: Just Jane Fonda VHS tapes played at 1.5x speed.

Post-Rehab Hydration: A cold glass of Tang and a hairspray touch-up for aerodynamic stability.

Techniques have evolved, but our commitment to keeping you moving at 100% hasn't changed! (Though we do miss the spandex... occasionally.)

Drop a 📻 in the comments if you remember sports rehab in the '80s!

STUBBORN TENDON PAIN THAT WON'T GO AWAY? ⚡️

If rest, stretching, and ice haven't fixed your Plantar Fasciitis, Achilles Pain, or Tennis Elbow—Shockwave Therapy might be the missing piece.

Extracorporeal Shockwave Therapy (ESWT) uses targeted, high-energy sound waves to deliver gentle micro-pulses right into deep, stubborn tissue.

Key Benefits:
🔬 Triggers Natural Healing: Re-initiates tissue repair in chronic "stuck" injuries.
🩸 Increases Blood Circulation: Stimulates micro-vessel growth for long-term recovery.
⚡️ Breaks Down Scar Tissue: Disrupts calcification deposits and dense scar tissue.
⏱️ Fast & Non-Invasive: Zero downtime and no surgery required.

Conditions Treated:
Plantar Fasciitis & Heel Spurs
Achilles Tendinopathy
Tennis & Golfer's Elbow
Shoulder Impingement / Calcific Tendinitis
Jumper's Knee (Patellar Tendinopathy)

Master the Romanian Deadlift (RDL) 🏋️
with Mike Herman, Physiotherapist, Cranston 📍

Are deadlifts safe for your lower back? Yes! 🙌

When performed with proper form and appropriate loading, the Romanian Deadlift is an effective, safe exercise for strengthening your posterior chain—specifically targeting your glutes, hamstrings, and upper back.

Key Tips for Proper Form:

Grip & Setup: Square up in front of the bar. Use an overhand or mixed grip (one palm facing over, one under).

Neutral Spine: Avoid rounding your lower back. If going all the way to the floor causes your back to round, elevate the bar on blocks or a rack.

Engage the Back: Keep your shoulder blades tight and upper back engaged throughout the movement.

Hinge at the Hips: Drive through your hips on the lift. As you lower the bar, sit your hips back with a slight bend in your knees while keeping your back straight.

Target Muscle Focus: You should feel the primary work in your glutes and hamstrings, not lower back pain!

Save this post for your next leg day and share it with a workout partner! 💪

Master the Dead Bug with Dr.Kate Hawkins! 🪲✨

Looking to build deep core stability without straining your lower back?
The Dead Bug is one of our absolute favorite foundational exercises for core engagement and trunk control! 🧠

Watch as Dr. Kate Hopkins guides Yaz through proper form and simple modifications.

Key Form Tips:
1. Neutral Spine: Gently tuck/roll your pelvis back to press your lower back flat against the mat.
2. Tabletop Setup: Knees stacked over hips at 90°, arms reaching straight up.
3. Opposite Arm & Leg: Lower opposite limbs simultaneously with control, keeping your core tightly braced.
4. Breathe:Don't hold your breath—exhale as you extend!
**Need a Modification?**
If full extension feels too challenging or compromises your lower back position:
* 💡 Single Limb Focus: Move just one arm *or* one leg at a time to simplify the coordination.
* 💡 Heel Taps:Keep knees bent and tap your heel to the floor instead of fully extending the leg.

Save this video for your next core session! 📌

Living with scoliosis? Let's change the shape of your treatment -

Meet the Schroth Method—a specialized, 3D approach to treating scoliosis and spinal asymmetries. Unlike generalized core exercises, the Schroth Method is highly customized to your unique spinal curve.

Here is what Daniel will do with a patient during a session:

1️⃣ 3D Elongation & De-rotation: We use specific breathing techniques and muscle engagement to gently elongate the spine and rotate it back toward a more neutral position.

2️⃣ Postural Awareness: Teaching your brain and muscles what "straight" actually feels like, so you can carry it into your everyday life (sitting, standing, walking).

3️⃣ Stabilization: Strengthening the deep postural muscles in their corrected positions so your body can maintain these changes long-term.

Whether the goal is managing pain, improving posture, or slowing curve progression, this method gives you the tools to take control of your spine.

Daniel works at our Bridgeland 📍 Monday to Friday and offers free 15 minute consultation Schroth Method for Scoliosis.
