Tamara Doering Integrative Pelvic Health Hi Loves, Iโ€™m Tamara ,
Iโ€™m an integrative pelvic health practitioner, mama of six, and devoted guide for women returning home to their bodies.

I support women in healing pelvic pain and prolapse, birth trauma, and disconnection through gentle, whole-body practicesโ€”pelvic bodywork, abdominal massage, scar tissue healing, and energy workโ€”to restore vitality, pleasure, and deep embodiment. My work is rooted in the belief that your body is not brokenโ€”and that deep healing, pleasure, and vitality are your birthright. Through gentle, integrative practices like pelvic bodywork, yoni steaming, abdominal massage, lymphatic therapy, scar tissue release, and energetic healing, I support women in healing from birth trauma, sexual trauma, pelvic pain, and disconnection from self. I hold sacred space for your body to speak, unwind, and remember. My approach is trauma-informed, consent-centered, and deeply sensualโ€”woven with reverence, education, and emotional safety. Whether youโ€™re navigating postpartum recovery, painful intimacy, menstrual challenges, or simply longing to reconnect with your pleasure, you are so welcome here. Together, weโ€™ll create a healing journey that is slow, sacred, and entirely led by your bodyโ€™s wisdom. Iโ€™m not here to fix youโ€”Iโ€™m here to walk with you as you reclaim the power that has always been within you. Welcome home to your womb. Welcome home to you. With Love and Gratitude,
Tamara

I have a number of clients who tell me they think something is going on with their pelvic floor, but they don't know if it's weak or tight.

So what does a weak pelvic floor even look like?

As women, we get very little education about our pelvic health, the warning signs, or what the hell we're supposed to do about them.

And our pelvic floors aren't exactly going to send us a strongly worded email saying, โ€œMa'am, we need to talk.โ€ ๐Ÿ˜‚

Instead, the little warning signs might look like peeing when you cough, sneeze, laugh, run or jump.

They might feel like heaviness, bulging, pressure or a dragging sensation in your va**na, especially after you've been on your feet all day.

You might have a harder time holding in gas. Or urine. Or sometimes, even stool.

S*x may feel different too. Maybe your partner doesn't feel the same inside of you anymore. Maybe you notice less sensation, or your or***ms aren't as strong as they once were.

And sometimes, you don't notice much at all until you jump on the trampoline with your kids and suddenly...

โ€œOh f**k. I just peed my pants a little.โ€ ๐Ÿ˜ณ

But here's what I really want women to understand: A pelvic floor that isn't functioning well does not automatically mean you need to start squeezing the ever-loving s**t out of it.

Weakness can exist alongside tension. A muscle can be tight AND weak. And THAT is a whole other pelvic-floor conversation. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Which is why handing every woman with leakage a sheet of Kegels and sending her on her merry little way makes me want to bang my head against a wall. ๐Ÿ˜‚

Your pelvic floor works with your breath, jaw, diaphragm, abdominal wall, hips, glutes, connective tissue and nervous system.

So I'm not just asking: โ€œHow strong is your squeeze?โ€

I'm looking at whether your pelvic floor can soften and lengthen when it needs to, AND create strength and support when you need it.

Because the goal isn't simply a stronger pelvic floor. It's a pelvic floor that can respond to what your body is asking of it.

When you get off an interview call for a program you've been waiting YEARS to attend, full of tears, covered in goosebumps and feeling quite twitterpated with the teacher... ...you know you're about to learn something pretty incredible.

This pic was taken approximately 30 seconds after hanging up from the interview ๐Ÿฅน I don't have all the words yet. But holy s**t, my heart is full.

Sometimes you meet a teacher and everything within your entire body is screaming, YES!! This!

This day was one of those days. More to come. โค๏ธ

YOUR PELVIC FLOOR ISNโ€™T ONE MUSCLE.

I know. We talk about โ€œthe pelvic floorโ€ as if it is one lonely little muscle sitting at the bottom of your pelvis.

But look at that lovely diagram.

There is an entire team down there.

Muscles, nerves, fascia and ligaments all layered together, supporting your bladder, uterus, cervix and re**um. And those muscles need to do a whole lot more than squeeze.

They need to contract.
They need to relax.
They need to lengthen.
They need to coordinate with your breath, your movement and the rest of your body.

And when one area is tight, gripping, overworking or just not communicating well with the rest of the team, it can affect the entire system.

This can show up as pelvic pain, bladder leakage, urgency, constipation, prolapse symptoms, painful intimacy, or heaviness and pressure in the pelvis.

And yet, what are so many women told?

โ€œJust do your Kegels.โ€

OMG. Nooooo.

Kegels are not inherently bad, but they are absolutely not the answer for every pelvic floor.

If your muscles are already tight, guarded or struggling to relax, repeatedly squeezing them may reinforce the pattern that is contributing to your symptoms.

It would be a little like clenching your already-clenched jaw even harder and wondering why it still hurts.

And speaking of your jawโ€ฆ

Yes, tension in your jaw may be part of the pelvic-floor conversation too.

Whaaat?!

Your jaw, breath, respiratory diaphragm, abdominal wall, nervous system and pelvic floor do not function in isolation. Your body is constantly communicating with itself, even when the connection is not immediately obvious.

Sometimes your pelvic floor does need more strength.

Sometimes it needs softness, space and support.

Sometimes it needs to relearn how to lengthen and let go.

Sometimes you need someone to look at the whole picture instead of someone giving you Kegels, telling you to imagine sucking a blueberry through a straw with your va**na, and sending you on your way.

If you are experiencing pelvic pain, leakage, prolapse symptoms, painful intimacy, heaviness or disconnection from your pelvis, you can book a one-to-one Integrative Pelvic Care session with me.

I know. Weโ€™ve been calling it that forever. ๐Ÿ˜‚

But your pelvic floor is much more like a ๐—ต๐—ฎ๐—บ๐—บ๐—ผ๐—ฐ๐—ธ ๐—ผ๐—ฟ ๐—ฎ ๐—ฏ๐—ผ๐˜„๐—น ๐—ผ๐—ณ ๐—บ๐˜‚๐˜€๐—ฐ๐—น๐—ฒ ๐—ฎ๐—ป๐—ฑ ๐—ฐ๐—ผ๐—ป๐—ป๐—ฒ๐—ฐ๐˜๐—ถ๐˜ƒ๐—ฒ ๐˜๐—ถ๐˜€๐˜€๐˜‚๐—ฒ that spans the bottom of your pelvis. Itโ€™s also referred to as the ๐—ฝ๐—ฒ๐—น๐˜ƒ๐—ถ๐—ฐ ๐—ฑ๐—ถ๐—ฎ๐—ฝ๐—ต๐—ฟ๐—ฎ๐—ด๐—บ.

And just like the respiratory diaphragm underneath your ribs, your pelvic diaphragm is meant to ๐—บ๐—ผ๐˜ƒ๐—ฒ.

These two diaphragms actually have a beautiful relationship with one another.

When you inhale, your respiratory diaphragm descends as your lungs fill with air. At the same time, your pelvic diaphragm responds by gently lengthening and moving downward.

When you exhale, your respiratory diaphragm rises again, and your pelvic diaphragm naturally recoils and lifts with it.

Down together.
Up together.

Which is one of the reasons I pay so much attention to breath in pelvic work.

If youโ€™re constantly holding your breath, gripping your belly, sucking everything in, or bearing down when you lift, stand, push, pull or exert yourself, youโ€™re changing the pressure moving through your abdominal and pelvic cavities.

And your pelvic floor has to respond to that pressure.

This is also why ๐—ฒ๐˜…๐—ต๐—ฎ๐—น๐—ถ๐—ป๐—ด ๐˜„๐—ถ๐˜๐—ต ๐—ฒ๐˜…๐—ฒ๐—ฟ๐˜๐—ถ๐—ผ๐—ป can be such a simple but important pelvic health practice.

Picking up your toddler? Exhale.
Lifting something heavy? Exhale.
Coming up from a squat? Exhale.
Getting yourself off the floor? Exhale.

Rather than holding your breath and sending a big surge of pressure downward, the exhale allows your diaphragm, abdominal wall and pelvic floor to work together to help manage that pressure.

And this matters whether weโ€™re talking about leakage, prolapse, pelvic heaviness, tension, pain, postpartum recoveryโ€ฆ or simply wanting a pelvic floor that can respond well to the demands of everyday life.

Your pelvic floor was never meant to be rigid.

It was designed to

And sometimes, one of the most powerful places we can begin is with something youโ€™re already doing roughly 20,000 times a day.

CONFESSION: This might be one of my favourite posts I've ever made... because it's true! ๐Ÿ˜‚ Just ask my husband. He will tell you ๐Ÿ™ˆ

But while we're talking about being naked...

Maybe it's time to stop carrying everything so damn tightly.

Pelvic pain.
Bladder leaks.
Painful intimacy.
Prolapse.
Difficulty feeling desire.
A body that just doesn't feel like home anymore.

Sometimes the best thing you can take off... is the tension you've been carrying.

Most intimacy struggles are not dysfunction.
They are adaptation.

When the body has learned that connection felt unsafe, rushed, or unmet, it protects itself the only way it knows how. By bracing, numbing, or performing.

This isnโ€™t brokenness.
Itโ€™s intelligence.

My work is about helping the body feel safe enough to soften again.

With women reconnecting to sensation.
With couples rebuilding intimacy from regulation instead of pressure.
With mothersโ€‘toโ€‘be who donโ€™t want pregnancy to disconnect them from their bodies.

This is the foundation of my 1:1 work.

1:1 Belly & Womb Unwinding, Integrative Pelvic Care and V***a | Pleasure & Sensory Mapping sessions available now
