Disability Service Phillip believes that dignity is a basic human need; it’s our sense of self-worth, respect and esteem. Connecting with others is central to Phillip’s work.

Preserving dignity in another person means respecting their whole self in a manner that respects their preferences and individuality. Phillip believes that dignity is a fundamental human need—rooted in self-worth, respect, and esteem. Preserving dignity means honoring the whole person by respecting their individuality, preferences, and lived experiences. He values building meaningful, genuine rela

tionships grounded in trust, mutual understanding, and respect. Empowering others to discover and reach their full potential is Phillip’s passion. He strongly believes that everyone—including older adults and individuals with developmental disabilities—deserves equal opportunities to thrive and actively participate within their communities. For over a decade, Phillip has taught, facilitated, and guided individuals with developmental disabilities as they prepare to enter the workforce and strengthen their life skills. His experience includes supporting the development of social skills, budgeting and financial management, life planning, personal hygiene, emotional support, and informal counselling. Phillip measures success by the growth and confidence of the people he supports. He takes the time to build positive, respectful, and professional relationships, holding each individual to high expectations and recognizing their potential for greatness. He does not define people by their diagnoses; instead, he actively demonstrates belief in their abilities. Phillip believes that everyone deserves the freedom to be themselves—and to be seen, respected, and valued.

We all face trials and tribulations—some beyond our control, and some of our own making. I've come to believe that people aren't always searching for solutions. Sometimes, it's simply comforting to know that another person's perspective can offer insight, understanding, and lessons we may never have seen on our own. 😉

Recommendation:

I had the pleasure of working with Kate Tarbotton of SAS Lumina on the development of my Google Sites website, and I couldn't be happier with the results.

From our first meeting, Kate provided valuable insight and practical recommendations that helped bring my vision to life. She was patient, professional, and always willing to answer my questions throughout the entire process.

Kate's knowledge of Google Sites, attention to detail, and commitment to delivering a quality website made the experience both enjoyable and stress-free. I am extremely pleased with the finished website and highly recommend Kate to anyone looking for a skilled and reliable web designer.

Thank you, Kate, for your outstanding work!

StillMe: Rethinking Dementia Care in Canada – A Better Way Forward

Yesterday evening, I attended a seminar hosted by the Alzheimer Calgary, a community-focused initiative which was held at Mount Royal University and featured a keynote address from national systems change expert Dr. Saskia Sivananthan.

The seminar emphasized a crucial transition from a complex and fragmented system toward compassionate, practical, and person-centered solutions. Key themes included Primary Care Innovation, Dementia-Friendly Communities, Caregiver Empowerment, and Reducing Stigma.

The one question which I thought may have been touched upon was; Dementia prevention often begins decades before symptoms appear. What initiatives does Alzheimer's Calgary have in place to educate adults in their 30s, 40s, and 50s about reducing their risk and making informed lifestyle choices that support cognitive health as they age?

Congratulations to Alzheimer Calgary and their sponsors!

Hello again, folks,

Over the past few weeks, I've shared three stories that are very personal to me.

One was about facing a health challenge and learning how much support and kindness can mean during difficult times.

Another was about helping my parents and discovering just how powerful simple moments can be—whether it's sharing a laugh, looking through old photos, or simply spending time together.

The third was about being taught technology by two amazing Grade 8 students who reminded me that you're never too old to learn something new.

At first glance, these stories may seem very different. But they all taught me the same thing:

We all need support sometimes.

Whether we're facing health issues, caring for loved ones, learning new skills, or simply navigating life's changes, having someone beside us can make all the difference.

These experiences have shaped the way I approach the companionship and support I provide to seniors. They have taught me the importance of patience, empathy, listening, and simply being present.

Most of all, they've reminded me that every person has a story, every person deserves to be heard, and no one should feel alone.

Thank you to everyone who has read, liked, commented on, and shared these posts. Your encouragement means a great deal to me.

If you or someone you know could benefit from a little extra support, companionship, or a helping hand, I'd be happy to chat.

Because sometimes the smallest acts of kindness make the biggest difference.

If there's one thing these stories have taught me, it's that none of us are meant to navigate life's challenges alone. If you or someone you know could benefit from a caring companion and a helping hand, I'd be honored to connect.

Hello folks,

As promised here is my third story:

3. Grade 8 Technology class story

I need to tell you something...

I didn't expect to be tutored by two Grade 8 students—and enjoy every minute of it.

I signed up for a 55+ technology class, thinking I'd get a basic walkthrough. Instead, I walked into a room full of young teens ready to teach. Within an hour, these two incredible 13-year-olds had me confidently navigating my laptop, writing notes, and actually understanding what I was doing.

It was humbling. It was fun. And it was a powerful reminder: learning has no age limit.
That experience stayed with me.

Because just like I learned from someone younger, we all go through moments when we need support—no matter our stage in life.

I've always believed that asking for help isn't a weakness; it's part of learning, growing, and staying connected to the people around us.

That's where I come in.

I offer compassionate, reliable companionship and support to help make daily life a little easier—whether it's getting to appointments, grocery shopping, learning something new, or simply having someone by your side who cares.

Life is easier when we support one another.

You don't have to do everything alone.

Let's make life a little easier, together.
