Every city. Every stage. Every timezone. The mission stays the same. ๐ŸŒ๐Ÿ”ฅ

I got into psychology because I saw a pattern that nobody was naming loudly enough. The most driven, most ambitious, most high-achieving people in the room: the athletes, the founders, the executives were also the ones the mental health system was most consistently failing. Not because they could not access support. Because the system was never built for them in the first place. It was built for crisis. They never look like they are in one. Until they collapse.

So I built something for them. ๐Ÿง

A clinic that runs virtually across Alberta, so geography is never the reason someone cannot access the right support.

A protocol: the N.E.U.R.O. Protocol, that does not manage patterns but rewires them at the root, permanently.

A podcast that has conversations about performance psychology that the mainstream mental health world is still not having.

A book dropping later this year that I believe will change how high performers understand the systems running their results.

An app that brings the N.E.U.R.O. Protocolโ„ข to anyone in the world who is ready for it. And more things I cannot share yet ๐Ÿ‘€

None of it was built by being in one city. None of it required a waiting room. All of it was built on the belief that the most important performance work a high achiever can do is the internal work and that work should be accessible wherever they are.

The brain is still the most powerful performance tool available to any athlete, founder, or executive. And it is still the most underinvested one. ๐Ÿ”ฅ

That is the gap we close.

Almost 80% of athletes from club level to Olympic competitors reported choking under pressure in their last year of playing. ๐Ÿ†๐Ÿง

That is not a talent problem. That is a nervous system problem.

Save this. Share it with every athlete and coach you know. ๐Ÿ‘‡

A 2026 meta-analysis just confirmed what sports psychologists have known for years: performing under pressure is not simply something an athlete either possesses or does not possess. Components of it can be trained.

Two things are happening neurologically when an athlete chokes. Either pressure is diverting their attention from ex*****on to fear of failure or it is causing them to consciously monitor automatic skills that normally run below awareness, disrupting the smooth ex*****on of well-learned movements.

Both are treatable. Neither is a character flaw. And both are significantly amplified by perfectionism, athletes who link their performance on a given day to their self-worth are significantly more vulnerable to choking in high-pressure moments.

The 7% figure on slide 2 is the one that needs to be talked about more. Of athletes who reported choking, 7% reported suicidal thoughts as a result. The psychological cost of choking is severe and almost entirely underreported in sport. Mental performance support is not optional. It is essential.

Clutch performance is a trainable psychological process, not an innate athletic trait. The athletes who rise in the biggest moments are not the ones who feel no nerves. They are the ones whose nervous system has been trained to read pressure as a signal to focus, not a signal to fear.

That training is what we provide at Neuropsych and Counselling for individual athletes and full sports teams across Alberta. Virtual and in-person.

Paige is a Registered Provisional Psychologist who helps high-achieving professionals, founders, athletes, and individuals with ADHD, anxiety, stress, and burnout master focus, stress, and emotional performance. ๐Ÿง

Her background is anything but typical.

From working with athletes, high-net-worth individuals, and government officials, to supporting founders navigating burnout, executives managing decision fatigue, and individuals finally getting answers about ADHD and anxiety. Paige brings a combination of clinical depth, founder-level thinking, and elite athletic discipline that is rare in the field.

Before founding Neuropsych and Counselling, Paige served as a Senior Psychometrician with Alberta Health Services and co-founded a venture-backed technology startup. She has trained under Dr. Michael Yapko (world-leading expert in depression and clinical hypnosis) and Dr. Scott Miller (founder of Feedback Informed Treatment) and was 1 of 20,000 applicants to be awarded the Alan Watts scholarship for her research on the Meaning of Happiness. ๐Ÿ”ฅ

Most performance tools focus on surface-level symptoms. The N.E.U.R.O. Protocol, Paige's proprietary neuroscience-based method, is designed to get to the root.

By accessing the emotional brain, the limbic system, where patterns are actually stored, the N.E.U.R.O. Protocolโ„ข creates a new neural pathway. Permanently.

Not coping. Not managing. Rewiring. ๐Ÿง

Every pattern can be mapped.
Every belief can be retrained.
Every response can be optimized.

There is something incredibly rewarding about watching the work youโ€™ve been building quietly start to flourish. ๐ŸŒฑ

When we started The Performance Code and Neuropsych & Counselling, we had a simple mission:

How do we help people go from good โ†’ great, and from great โ†’ exceptional? ๐Ÿง ๐Ÿ†

We quickly realized something.

A lot of the systems around us are designed primarily for intervention โ€” helping people once something has already gone wrong.

But what about prevention?

What about helping an athlete before they burn out?
A teenager before anxiety takes over?
A founder before success becomes unsustainable?
An executive before the pressure becomes too much?
A high performer before they hit a ceiling they can't explain?

Having lived in different places over the last decade has given me a very different perspective on how people approach mental health, performance, education, and human potential.

And honestly, I'm grateful for that perspective. ๐Ÿ™

It has shaped how we think about what we're building.

Soon, we're opening our in-person location โ€” a space designed to bring together athletes, sports teams, teens, founders, executives, and high performers. ๐Ÿš€

A place where we'll bring together:

๐Ÿง  The N.E.U.R.O. Protocolโ„ข
๐Ÿ† Sports psychology & mental performance
๐ŸŽค Workshops & educational experiences
๐ŸŽ™๏ธ Interview series & conversations with high performers
๐Ÿค Teams, organizations & leadership programs
๐Ÿ”ฅ And a lot more that we're not ready to announce yet...

This is bigger than opening a clinic.

It's about creating an environment where mental health and high performance aren't treated as separate conversations.

Where we don't just ask:

"How do we fix what's wrong?"

But also:

"How do we help someone become everything they're capable of becoming?"

We're still early.

But watching the vision slowly become reality has been one of the most rewarding parts of this journey.

And we're just getting started. ๐Ÿš€๐Ÿง

70% of young athletes quit sport by age 13. ๐Ÿšจ

Most people blame it on the child. Wrong sport. Wrong attitude. Lost interest.

The research tells a completely different story.

Burnout is the leading driver of youth athlete dropout and in the vast majority of cases, nobody catches it until the athlete is already gone from the sport they loved. ๐Ÿง

Swipe through all 5 slides. Save this. Send it to every parent and coach in your life. ๐Ÿ‘‡

Youth athletes now experience anxiety, depression, and burnout at rates that exceed their non-athletic peers. Not slightly but significantly. And the pressure driving it has never been higher.

Early specialisation starting in elementary school. Year-round training with no psychological recovery built in. Social media amplifying every mistake in real time.

The result: a generation of young athletes whose nervous systems are stuck in chronic stress. Who have been trained to perform and never taught how to regulate the system doing the performing. ๐Ÿ”ฅ

Here's what parents and coaches need to understand:

Burnout does not look like a breakdown. It looks like a bad attitude. It looks like an athlete who suddenly hates something they used to love. It looks like unexplained physical symptoms before competition. It looks like going quiet.

By the time a young athlete says they want to quit, they have been carrying this for months.

The 7 signs on slide 3 are what to look for before it reaches that point.

The 3 things on slide 5 are what actually help and none of them are a rest week. ๐Ÿง ๐Ÿ†

5 mental skills every athlete should be training. Almost none are. ๐Ÿง ๐Ÿ†

Save this. Share it with your coach. Send it to every athlete in your life. ๐Ÿ‘‡

The physical training gets done. The mental training gets skipped. And then everyone wonders why technically gifted athletes fall apart when the pressure is real.

Pre-competition routines. Error reset protocols. Visualisation. Identity work. These are not extras, they are the psychological foundation that determines whether everything you have trained physically actually shows up in competition.

They are trainable. For every athlete. At every level. Starting today. ๐Ÿ”ฅ

Something nobody tells athletes and it changes everything once you understand it. ๐Ÿง โšก

You donโ€™t perform poorly under pressure.

Your brain performs exactly as it was trained.

Every single time. Without exception. ๐Ÿ”ฅ

If you have never deliberately trained your nervous system to regulate under pressure, then what shows up in the biggest moments of your season is an untrained system doing its best with what it has.

And an untrained system under pressure does not produce your best. It produces your most automatic. ๐Ÿ˜ถ

The missed penalty. The collapse in the final set. The freeze when everything is on the line.

That is not a character flaw. That is not a lack of desire. That is a nervous system that was never given the specific training it needed for that specific moment. ๐Ÿง

Here is the shift that changes everything:

If pressure will train your nervous system one way or another, either you train it deliberately, or it trains itself through failure. ๐Ÿ’ก

The athletes who perform consistently under pressure chose the first option. They didnโ€™t hope their nerves would settle on game day. They built the protocols, practiced the regulation, and trained the system so thoroughly that pressure became a signal rather than a threat.

That training is exactly what we do at Neuropsych and Counselling. ๐Ÿ†

Most people think high performers need fewer conversations about mental health.

The opposite is often true.

Behind every founder making impossible decisions...
๐Ÿ’ผ Every executive leading a team...
๐Ÿ… Every athlete competing under pressure...
๐ŸŒ Every leader expected to have all the answers...
..is still a human being.

The strongest people donโ€™t avoid support.

They seek it before they need it.

In the last 5 years I had the opportunity to spend time with an incredible room full of high performers, leaders, and changemakers. ๐Ÿ™Œ

One thing became clear:

โœจ No one outgrows the need to build resilience.
โœจ No one outgrows the need to strengthen emotional intelligence.
โœจ No one outgrows the need to train psychological performance.

Success isnโ€™t just about what you achieve. ๐Ÿ“ˆ

Itโ€™s about who youโ€™re becoming while you achieve it.

The future of high performance wonโ€™t belong to those who work the hardest.

It will belong to those who train their minds as intentionally as they train their skills. ๐Ÿง โšก

Because your greatest asset isnโ€™t your rรฉsumรฉ, your title, or your talent.

Itโ€™s your mind. ๐Ÿ’™

๐Ÿšจ 1 in 5 young Canadians now rates their own mental health as poor.

15 years ago that number was 1 in 25. ๐Ÿ“‰

๐Ÿ‘‰ Swipe to understand whatโ€™s actually happening and why youth sport is the highest-leverage place we could intervene right now.

Weโ€™ve watched youth mental health in this country decline in real time. The data isnโ€™t subtle. ๐Ÿ“Š Moderate-to-serious psychological distress among Canadian youth climbed from 24% in 2013 to 44% by 2019โ€”before the pandemic even started. And it has continued to rise.

Meanwhile, most sports clubs and youth organizations still donโ€™t have a psychologist on staff. Not one. ๐Ÿ˜

We have coaches for technique. ๐ŸŠ
Coaches for strength. ๐Ÿ’ช
Coaches for nutrition. ๐Ÿฅ—

Nobody for the thing that often determines whether a young athlete thrives or falls apart under pressure. ๐Ÿง

โณ 70% of all mental health problems begin before age 25.

On average, it takes 11 years from the onset of symptoms to receive treatment.

Thatโ€™s 11 years of a young person managing alone.
Masking.
Compensating.
Performing while quietly struggling.

๐Ÿ’ก A psychologist embedded in every youth sports club is not a luxury.

Itโ€™s one of the highest-leverage investments we could make for the next generation.

Small changes now.

Or massive consequences later.

At Neuropsych and Counselling, weโ€™re working to help build exactly that infrastructure ๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿป
