Signs your core isn’t working with your workout (and what to do about it) 👇
Okay mama, how many of these sound like you?
👉 Your lower back works harder than your abs on squats and deadlifts
👉 Your belly bulges when you lift or push
👉 You hold your breath on the hard reps
👉 Your ribs pop out when your arms go overhead
👉 You have to coach yourself through every single rep
👉 You clench your abs all day and call it a strong core
If you ticked a few, you’re not doing anything wrong. Nobody ever taught your core how to work during real movement. Here’s where to start:
✅ Breathe through every rep. Inhale before you move and exhale on the hard part, so your core manages the pressure instead of bracing against it.
✅ Let go between reps. Your core should switch on when you need it and relax when you don’t.
✅ Go lighter and slower. If you lose the connection when you add weight, drop it and rebuild the feeling first.
✅ Notice where you lose it. Is it heavier weight, overhead, or when you get tired? That’s exactly where the work needs to happen.
If you want me to walk you through all of it, come join me in the 6 Weeks to a Stronger Core Challenge 🔥
You’ll learn rib stacking, diaphragmatic breathing, the hip shift, how to stop ab gripping, thoracic mobility with serratus strength, and how to connect your glutes, core and pelvic floor.
Every workout is at-home friendly and averages around 37 minutes.
It’s for you if you’re past early postpartum (ideally 6-12+ months) or in general motherhood, you’ve done the core work but still can’t feel that connection, and you want structure
