Beading is a mindful, hands-on practice that uses the repetitive, rhythmic process of stringing or weaving beads to soothe the nervous system, lower stress hormones like cortisol, and promote emotional healing.

Therapeutic Benefits:

Mindfulness & Focus: The precise, methodical nature of handling tiny beads grounds your racing thoughts in the present moment, acting as a natural, unforced meditation.

Trauma & Grief Processing: Beading has long been used across cultures—such as in Indigenous communities—as a meditative outlet to process difficult emotions and channel positive intentions.

Stress Relief: The sensory, tactile engagement keeps your hands busy while allowing your mind the space to process or decompress from daily demands.

What does it feel like to look in the mirror?
To look at your body?
To only speak good things to and about yourself?

A lot of people struggle with body dysmorphia, where they hyperfixate on the flaws they believe they have.

It can be difficult to not compare ourselves to others, hyperfocusing on our exterior image. This focus of negativity on flaws can cause embarrassment, shame, blame and anxiety within.

We can work on ways to increase positive body and self image views. Unraveling where the initial comparison or dislike happened. Learning deep self love by building our self esteem, and gratitude for what is working well.

Self awareness gives us clarity on what we were critiquing of ourselves. Was it even ours to carry or was it a projection or expectation from the outside.

Learning to detach from labels. What we are supposed to look like. Im to old, to young, to fat, to skinny, to tall, to short, to much.

Remembering that your too muchness is what makes you who you are and that is exactly the point. To remember your unique gifts and purpose despite what we look like on the exterior. Healing starts with interior connection and mindfully loving all parts of ourselves.

Body dysmorphia can lead to anorexia, bullemia, self harming behaviors, binge eating, cosmetic surgeries and isolation.
Looking for control, relief or numbing for a little while we may lean on unhealthy coping mechanisms.

Consider these tips to help cope with body dysmorphia: Journal, Connect don't Isolate, Practice Self-Compassionate Care, Join a Support Group, Create Attainable Goals, Learn Relaxation and Stress Management Practices, Learn a new hobby and or ways to Create.

Meaningful interpersonal connections are essential for human flourishing. Cultivating strong social bonds directly boosts life expectancy, protects against chronic diseases like heart issues and dementia, and acts as a powerful buffer against daily stress and mental health challenges.

Reflection: How can I be more welcoming and open to connection in my life? 💗
