Breathe in and out.
Repeat: "I am allowed to make mistakes."
Perfection doesn't exist, which means mistakes will happen.
If we know we aren't perfect, why berate ourselves when we aren't?
Instead, find the lesson in the mistake.
Especially if it is to give yourself grace.
Cheers,
Meg

🌿 You're allowed to make mistakes.

That's your reminder for August 24–30.

You don't need to be perfect to come to class. You don't need to already be flexible, strong or "good at yoga." And you definitely don't need to get every movement right on the first try.

We practise. We learn. We adjust. We try again. 💚

And we've got lots of opportunities to practise together this week!

✨ MON: 9:30AM Beginner Hatha Yoga
✨ TUES: 7:30AM BodyWise Sculpt & Fitness • 6:30PM Pilates Fitness • 7:45PM Community Time
✨ WED: 6:30PM All-Levels Hatha Yoga • 7:45PM Community Time
✨ THURS: 6:30PM BodyWise Sculpt & Fitness • 7:30PM Beginner Stretch/Yin Yoga
✨ FRI: 9:30AM Gentle Back Care Yoga

No live classes Saturday or Sunday—enjoy a walk, some rest, or a class from the AnyTime Studio!

New here? Drop-ins are welcome. You don't need to wait for a new session or the "right" time to start.

🦖 HealthRex vs. the chest press.

There appears to be a slight problem.

Large T. rex body.

Tiny arms.

Dumbbells.

And a traditional floor chest press isn't looking terribly promising. 😂

But that's actually the point of today's HealthRex.

Can't do it that way? Try this instead.

An exercise is a tool, not a test.

If getting onto the floor doesn't work for your body, your arms don't comfortably move through the demonstrated range, or a particular setup simply doesn't feel right, we can ask:

What are we actually trying to accomplish?
Then we find another way to work toward it.
Change the position. Change the equipment. Change the range. Choose another movement.
The goal can stay the same even when the exercise looks different.
🦖 HealthRex's reminder: Using a different variation doesn't make your movement less valuable.
Although having tiny arms apparently does require a little creativity. 😂
Remember...
We don't force your body into the movement—we fit the movement to your body.

💪 Want to build upper-body strength without needing a weight bench?
Try a dumbbell floor chest press.
The chest press primarily strengthens your chest, with your triceps and shoulders helping out—and that strength isn't just useful at the gym. Think about all the pushing, lifting and getting-up-off-the-floor things we ask our upper bodies to do in everyday life!
For this variation, the floor also gives your upper arms a natural stopping point as you lower the weights.
A few things to remember...
✔ Press and lower with control.
✔ Keep your wrists comfortably stacked.
✔ Don't bounce your arms off the floor.
✔ Your elbows don't need to point straight out to the sides—find the angle that feels strong and comfortable for your shoulders.
Myth vs. Reality
Myth: There's one perfect arm position for a chest press.
Reality: Bodies are built differently. A slightly more tucked position may feel much better for your shoulders while still giving you an effective chest press.
Remember...
We don't force your body into the movement—we fit the movement to your body.

Breathe in and out.
Repeat: "I look for the good in the challenge."
When things are hard, it's easy to get stuck in the hard.
Look for the good.
Not "everything happens for a reason," or false positivity.
Simply: Is there a lesson that can make this feel less difficult?
How can I help myself thrive in this time?
How can I be kind to myself and others in this time?
Therein lies the transformative magic, the refining, the path forward.
Cheers,
Meg

🦖 HealthRex has discovered something...
Relaxing isn't always as easy as it looks.
Especially when you have a large T. rex body! 😂
Today's HealthRex video is a reminder that Savasana isn't about lying in one "perfect" position—it's about finding a position where your body can actually relax.
Myth vs. Reality
🦖 Myth: Everyone should do Savasana the same way.
✅ Reality: The most beneficial Savasana is the one that feels comfortable for your body.
Remember...
• Comfort is the goal.
• Props are tools—not shortcuts.
• Rest is productive.
Remember...
We don't force your body into the movement—we fit the movement to your body.

🧘 Think Savasana has to mean lying flat on the floor?
Not at all!
If your back, hips or neck become uncomfortable, your body has a hard time relaxing.
That's why props can be such a wonderful tool.
Today's How-To shows a simple supported Savasana variation that helps many people feel more comfortable so they can actually enjoy the benefits of rest.
Remember...
• Comfort comes first.
• Use props to support your body.
• Let your breath slow naturally.
• Rest is productive, too.
Myth vs. Reality
Myth: Using props is "cheating."
Reality: Props help many people relax more deeply by supporting the body where it needs it most.
Remember...
We don't force your body into the movement—we fit the movement to your body.
🙌 Want help finding the best movement for your body?
We'd love to help you in class!
▶ Follow along for a new Yoga, Pilates, Fitness or Mobility How-To every week to help you move with more confidence and less pain.
Cheers,
Meg
