Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) is sometimes nicknamed "Liquid Gold". PRP is made from the patient's own blood, that is spun down to separate the red blood cells from the white blood cells, platelets, stem cells, and fibrin content (plus many other growth factors).
This "liquid gold" can be injected into muscles, joints, ligaments and tendons after an injury, to help in the healing process. Injecting the PRP into the site of injury gives the body the necessary growth factors and immune cells that the injury needs to recover.
It can also be used for aesthetic purposes to promote hydration, collagen formation to give a youthful glow to the skin. When injected into the face, it is used to smooth out wrinkles, lines, under-eye bags, skin pigmentation issues and can also be used to give a natural plumping look to the cheeks for a youthful appearance.
It is also used for hair rejuvenation to help support the hair follicle to grow hair in an area that is starting to show hair thinning.
