Have you ever finished explaining something important and felt like the other person was already preparing their response?

Many relationship conflicts aren't caused by bad intentions. They're caused by people feeling unheard.

The difference between listening and waiting to respond can completely change a conversation.

Sometimes the most powerful thing you can say is:
"Help me understand."

Have you ever felt like you're going through the motions of life without fully feeling present?

Many people describe feeling emotionally numb, disconnected from themselves, detached from their surroundings, or as though they're watching life happen from the outside. In mental health, this experience is called dissociation.

One common source of confusion is the difference between dissociation and disassociation. While the words sound similar, only dissociation is a clinical term used in psychology and trauma therapy.

In our latest blog, we explain what dissociation is, why it happens, how it relates to trauma and stress, and when it may be helpful to seek support.

Understanding what's happening is often the first step toward feeling grounded again.

Dissociation is a psychological term for feeling disconnected from your thoughts, body, or reality. Disassociation is a general word not used in clinical settings.

What if the hardest experiences in your life didn’t actually stay in the past?

Unresolved trauma happens when something painful occurs, but your mind and body never fully get the chance to process it. Even if life has moved forward on the surface, your nervous system may still be carrying the impact underneath.

This is why many people assume they’ve “moved on” simply because time has passed. But trauma doesn’t resolve on its own with time alone—healing comes through processing, support, and safety.

Unresolved trauma can show up in many forms: childhood neglect, abuse, grief, medical experiences, relationship breakdowns, or growing up in an environment that didn’t feel stable or safe. Sometimes it’s obvious. Other times, it’s subtle and long-standing.

What matters most is not the size of the event, but how it impacted you.

In our latest blog, we explore what unresolved trauma is, why it lingers in the nervous system, and how trauma-informed therapy can help you begin to work through it in a lasting way.

Unresolved trauma is what happens when a painful experience enters your life but never leaves it properly.  Your mind recorded the event, and your nervous system responded. But the emotional and psychological processing that was needed to follow simply never happened. Many people carry unresolved t...
