Sometimes, our kids don’t need us to tell them to calm down. They need us to help them find their way back. ❤️

Here, you can see one little guy who didn’t want anyone touching the game. He was tired and having a hard time regulating.

Our other cutie was patiently waiting with a little adult guidance, sharing the dice and taking cues on what to do next... And then… BOOM! They were playing the cat-and-fish balancing game together, with giggles and excitement!

For my little guy, one of his favourite things is when I join his activities or play a game with him. 🥹

☆ Sometimes, the right activity, a little support, and connection can help our kids find their way back to a place where they can engage and have fun.

It’s not about forcing them to behave. It’s about finding what helps them feel safe, connected, and ready to try again.

I was THAT kid. ❤️

I struggled with homework. Sometimes, I copied it. Sometimes, I did well in school, and other times, I couldn't seem to get it together.

People saw the academic struggles. They didn't see what was happening beneath the surface.

I grew up with ADHD, and somewhere along the way, shame crept in.

I'll never forget being at my own graduation and having someone's parent tell my mother they were shocked I was graduating.

Imagine being a kid who has struggled, finally reaching that milestone, and still having someone question your ability to succeed.

That s**t stings.

Especially when people make assumptions about a child without knowing their whole story.

A child's academic struggles are not a measure of their intelligence, their potential, or their worth.

Today, as a therapeutic counsellor working with children and families navigating ADHD, this is something I feel deeply passionate about.

I want children to understand their brains, develop tools that work for them, and grow up believing in themselves.

That's a big part of why I created The Orbit Crew. 🪐

Because children deserve to be taught what to do, not just shamed for what they struggle with.

And to the parents raising a child who's struggling in ways others might not understand: keep advocating for them. They need support, not assumptions.

We never know what a child is carrying. Compassion goes a long way. ❤️

MEET VINCE! 💚

Say hello to Vince, our 6-year-old ball of energy in The Orbit Crew! 🌟

Vince brings joy, laughter, and a whole lot of adventure wherever he goes. He loves to move, explore, try new things, and jump into his next mission!

💚 He reminds us that movement matters.
💚 Play is important.
💚 And learning doesn't have to look the same for everyone.

For some kids with ADHD, moving their bodies, exploring their interests, and learning through play can help make learning more engaging.

✨ Because sometimes, the best way forward isn't sitting still, but it's finding what helps YOUR brain shine.

Check out Mr. Vince's adventures in my ADHD book, The Orbit Crew.

⚽ What if studying felt more like play and less like a battle? ⚽️

One of the things we explore in my 2-week personalized ADHD program is understanding your child’s unique interests, strengths, and needs and finding ways to use them in everyday life. 💛

Sometimes, a small change in approach makes all the difference.

⭐️ Same learning goal. Different approach.

Knowing what to do and being able to do it aren’t always the same thing. 🥴

Sometimes, the expectations we carry, the beliefs we hold about ourselves, and the behaviours we’ve learned over the years can weigh us down more than we realize.

And this isn’t just something we explore in childhood. Our upbringing and experiences continue to shape us well into adulthood.

Counselling can be a space to unpack those expectations, understand where they came from, and decide which ones you actually want to carry forward.

I work with adults, teens, and children navigating ADHD, while also supporting the anxiety, overwhelm, and other challenges that can come alongside it.

You don’t have to be a parent to work with me. You just have to be ready to understand yourself a little better. 🤎

⭐️ Stay tuned for my 3-piece therapy series solely on learned expectations.

😂 Just kidding… kind of. 😏

Full transparency: I'm struggling with this myself right now. Between parenting, work, and everything else on my plate, getting started on household tasks can feel overwhelming.

Sometimes, even a little nudge from someone else can help us get moving. Body doubling, BABY!!

So here's your reminder (and mine): Set a 10-minute timer, pick ONE area, and give yourself permission to stop when it ends.

❤️ Let's all try this tonight and into the weekend!

We're not aiming for perfect. We're aiming for progress.

It’s 8 PM. The kids are asleep. You finally have time to yourself or with your spouse… and then you see the kitchen. 😩

The mess. The STUFF. The exhaustion.

This is me. No matter how much I tidy during the day, my kids’ needs come first. By bedtime, I have nothing left.

So, I’m sharing little strategies that have helped ME declutter and stay that way. ❤️

🚀 TIP #1: POSITIVE DISTRACTION

A tool from my book, The Orbit Crew, that works for adults, too!

● Commit to 10 minutes. 🎧 Put on music, a podcast, or your favourite show (my fav). ⏱️ Let it help guide your focus. GO!

When the timer goes off, check in. Keep going if you can, or stop if you need to.

10 minutes is progress. Progress is a win. 🏆

Now go chill. You’ve earned it. ❤️

Your child's attention span might be shorter than you think!

This can be a HUGE game changer for parents when we set this realistic expectation.

In my 2 week personalized ADHD program, I help learn your child's favourite hobbies and help integrate it into focus, learning, and even homework!

Comment PROGRAM, and I will send you a start-up email for my program! 👇🏼

If you’re rolling your eyes at the 5-minute rule… 😂
I GET IT.

But hear me out. 👀

My kids actually LOVE turning the timer on and racing to see how much they can clean before it rings. ⏱️

And yes… I won’t deny that sometimes treats are involved when we’ve reached peak “NO LISTENING” mode. 😂

But this isn’t just a kid thing.

I use the 5-minute rule when I’m dreading a chore, too. Put on music, start an audiobook, set the timer, and just START.

It doesn’t have to be finished.
5 minutes is better than zero. 💛
