Sometimes the best way to explain what we do is to have a little fun with what we don’t do. 😄

We’re all for personal growth, empowerment, curiosity and a little magic. But there are a few requests that are always going to get a smile… and a polite “no thanks.”

📚 Mystic Reads

This week’s Mystic Reads recommendation is Tales of the Dark Feminine by V. Castro, first published in 2025.

I picked this one up while planning our Dark Goddess Rising retreat, and it couldn’t have been more fitting. If you’ve been following Mystic Reads, you may be noticing a bit of a theme lately! I promise I’ll choose something completely different next week.

If you’ve ever felt drawn to the darker aspects of the Divine Feminine, this is a wonderful book to have on your shelf.

Rather than focusing on a single goddess or tradition, Tales of the Dark Feminine introduces us to 26 goddesses, spirits, and powerful feminine figures from cultures around the world. Each chapter includes a modern retelling of her story, followed by historical background, symbols, and reflections on the wisdom she offers today.

What I enjoyed most about this book is that it doesn’t portray the dark feminine as something to fear. Instead, it reminds us that these archetypes embody qualities such as strength, transformation, intuition, healthy boundaries, grief, righteous anger, compassion, and resilience. The stories are short enough to read one at a time, making this a book you’ll likely return to again and again.

Mystic Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐☆ (4/5)

Perfect for: Readers interested in goddess mythology, the Divine Feminine, witchcraft, folklore, and anyone who enjoys exploring the deeper symbolism behind powerful female archetypes.

Have you discovered a goddess or feminine archetype that really speaks to you? I’d love to hear which one.

🌕 The Full Moon in Aquarius: A Time to Be Authentically You

Tonight's Full Moon in Aquarius invites us to step away from expectations and reconnect with who we truly are. Aquarius reminds us that each of us has unique gifts, and life becomes richer when we stop trying to fit in and start living authentically.

While the Sun in Leo inspires confidence and creativity, the Aquarius Moon asks an important question: Are you living from your heart, or from other people's expectations?

This Full Moon is a beautiful time to release limiting beliefs, old habits and stories that no longer serve you. It's also a reminder that healing happens in connection. When we gather with open hearts, we inspire one another to grow and shine.

🌕 Full Moon Family Ritual

This simple ritual is perfect for adults and children.

Step outside after sunset and spend a few quiet moments looking at the Moon. Take three deep breaths and simply be present.

Give each person two small pieces of paper.

On the first, write or draw something you're ready to release. It could be a worry, fear, habit or anything weighing on your heart. Safely burn it, bury it in the earth, or tear it into tiny pieces and place it in the recycling as a symbol of letting go.

On the second paper, write or draw one quality you'd like to grow this month, such as kindness, courage, patience, creativity, confidence or joy. Leave it on a windowsill under the moonlight overnight, or tuck it under your pillow as a reminder of your intention.

Finish by sharing one thing you're grateful for. Younger children can draw instead of writing.

The Full Moon doesn't change us by magic. It simply offers a chance to pause, reflect and choose our next step with intention.

✨ Wishing you a peaceful Full Moon filled with clarity, connection and the courage to be unapologetically yourself. Happy Full Moon! 🌕

🌕 Full Moon Deep Trance Soundbath 🌕

This month, two of our most loved monthly experiences come together for one extraordinary evening.

Normally, our Deep Trance Full Moon Meditation and Soundbath are offered as separate events. But in July, they fall on the same evening, giving us the opportunity to combine them into a single immersive experience.

The evening begins with a guided deep trance meditation, helping you settle into a profoundly relaxed state where the conscious mind quiets and the subconscious becomes more receptive. From this place of deep stillness, you'll be gently carried into a restorative crystal singing bowl soundbath, allowing the vibrations to wash through the body and deepen the meditative journey.

The Full Moon has long been associated with release, reflection, and renewal. Combined with deep trance and the healing frequencies of sound, this special evening offers a powerful opportunity to let go of what no longer serves you, reconnect with yourself, and leave feeling lighter, calmer, and more grounded.

Whether you've attended one of these experiences before or this is your first time, July's combined event promises a uniquely deep and restorative journey.

📅 Wednesday, July 29th
🕖 7:00 - 8:00 PM

No fee to register. Pay what you can at the event.

🌿Sunday Reflections: When Women Gather🌿

Last weekend we hosted our Her Wild Return retreat. As I sat with the experience afterwards, I found myself reflecting on what made it so meaningful.

The beautiful setting certainly helped. The forest trails, the fire circles, the yoga, the sound baths, the workshops, the laughter around the table... they all played an important part. But they weren't the magic.

The magic was the women.

Every retreat we create begins with the same intention. We want to build a space where women feel safe. A place where they can set down, even for a weekend, the endless responsibilities they carry. A place free from judgement, comparison, and expectation. A place where they don't have to be the caregiver, the organizer, the problem solver, or the one holding everyone else together. Just for a little while, someone else holds them.

What unfolded over the weekend was a beautiful reminder of what happens when women are given permission to simply be. They begin to see one another. Not through careers or accomplishments. Not through age or appearance. Not through politics, income, or life experience. They see one another as human beings.

This year our circle included women in their twenties and women in their eighties. Different backgrounds. Different stories. Different joys and different heartbreaks. Yet none of those differences seemed to matter for very long. Something else took over. There was laughter that came easily. Tears that needed no explanation. Encouragement offered without being asked. Stories shared without fear of judgement. Complete strangers became companions in only a matter of hours.

By the end of the weekend, it no longer felt like a group of individuals attending the same retreat. It felt like a community. An intentional community built on kindness, compassion, curiosity, and the simple willingness to witness one another exactly as we are.

It reminded me of something I think we have always known. Women have gathered in circles for thousands of years. Around fires. In kitchens. In fields. Around birth and around death. To celebrate. To grieve. To teach. To listen. To carry one another through life's seasons. Perhaps those circles have never stopped being necessary. Perhaps we have simply forgotten how much we need them.

The greatest gift of Her Wild Return wasn't something we created. It was something the women created together. We simply provided the space. They brought the love.

And in doing so, they reminded all of us that healing doesn't only happen in solitude. Sometimes it happens in the presence of others who make us feel safe enough to remember who we have been all along.

That is the real magic.

And it always will be. 🌿

May you be blessed,
Rev. Kim Etherington

✨ Women's Ecstatic Dance: Self-Love Edition ✨

There is something profoundly healing about women gathering in circle.

Our Women's Ecstatic Dance is more than just an evening of movement. It is a guided somatic journey, with every song intentionally chosen to support a shared intention. This month's intention is Self Love.

We'll begin by sharing sweet treats before creating our circle together. Then we'll write affirming words on one another using glowing UV body paint before stepping into the black light to dance, move, sway, sit, or simply be. There are no dance steps to learn and no expectations. Just an invitation to honour your body exactly as it is.

As the evening comes to a close, you'll settle onto a mat for a guided healing experience, allowing your nervous system to integrate everything you've moved, released and received.

Come as you are. Leave feeling connected, empowered and deeply supported.

📚 Mystic Reads

This week's Mystic Reads recommendation is The Highest Level of Enlightenment by David R. Hawkins.

If you've spent any time exploring consciousness, spirituality, or personal transformation, there's a good chance you've come across David R. Hawkins. He is best known for books like Power vs. Force, Letting Go, and The Eye of the I. While each offers a unique perspective, they all build on the same foundation: understanding consciousness and our capacity for spiritual growth.

Personally, Power vs. Force remains my favourite of his books. It introduced me to Hawkins' Map of Consciousness, a framework that explores different states of awareness, from fear and shame to love, peace, and enlightenment. Whether you interpret it literally or as a tool for reflection, it's a concept that has influenced countless people on their spiritual journey.

The Highest Level of Enlightenment expands on many of these ideas, taking a deeper dive into the nature of awakening and what it means to move beyond the ego. I wouldn't recommend starting here if you're new to Hawkins' work. If you've already read Power vs. Force or Letting Go, however, this book offers a richer exploration of the principles that run throughout his teachings.

Mystic Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐☆ (4/5)

Perfect for: Readers interested in consciousness, non-duality, spiritual awakening, meditation, and anyone who enjoys exploring the deeper questions of human awareness.

Have you read any of David R. Hawkins' books? If so, which one had the biggest impact on you?

Available now at Mystic Avenue.
