The little brown Silkie hen hatched out three eggs and managed to keep every one of them safe and alive. 🥹

She’s tiny, but she’s been the best mother hen we’ve had yet. Three little chicks following behind her, and she takes her job very seriously. 🤎🐥

Last night’s sky, as the moon came up over our horizon, made the heavens seem so close. As if I only needed to climb a hill to touch a star, or go out on the water to collect some of the moonlight in my hands.

I’ve always thought of the moon as shy, preferring the quiet of the night and the company of dreamers, thinkers, and lonely night walkers who wander out in her light.

The early fall clouds are arriving, carrying their secrets of the coming winter. They lower themselves over the land as though preparing to wrap us against the cold, bringing with them the scent of woodsmoke and ripening berries.
