The northern woods of old growth forests and Canadian Shield walled highways.
No High rise buildings in the rear view,
Only the bustle silenced by miles travelled.
Cat Steven’s and acoustic accompaniment.
Worms for sale and far off chip trucks.
Concession roads
Local politician billboards.
Seemingly abandoned truck inspection stations and moose warning signs.
Dancing deer signs and 100kmph,
The optically illusive guard rails frame the rocks left untouched during highway opening blasts.
Smokey the bear reminds us in America that only you can prevent forest fires
And the Ontario highway fire warning danger signs are predictors of s’mores and marshmallow roasting,
And gas prices increase as the trees grow taller and the roadside forest density.
The curving highway rocks away the urban angst and eyes can see the horizon and the mind calms at the green vastness.
With that, floating birds slide open calm.
