Look at my veggie garden! 🌱

Isn’t it precious? I’m so excited because this represents something much bigger than a garden. You see, I am brand new to veggie gardening. And beginning before I having everything figured out, is part of PTSD recovery.

I used to get stuck in paralysis—the freeze response. Add a little perfectionism (fear of failure or even success), sensitivity to criticism, and limited resources, and I was defeated (by my own thoughts) before I started. Sound familiar?

This is one example of trauma/overwhelm loop. With a little understanding and some practical tools, we can interrupt that cycle and step into fullness of life.

Start by celebrating your inspiration. Creativity flourishes when we have the energy for it, so simply feeling inspired is a sign that you’re recovering and that’s a big deal.

Next honour this inspiration by taking one step—no matter how tiny. Gather tools. Learn what you need to. Picture the positive outcomes. Leave your supplies where you’ll see them. Set a start date. Tell someone about your project. Small steps matter! Scripture tells us not to "despise these small beginnings, for the Lord rejoices to see the work begin...” Zach 4:10.

Processing the overwhelm and trauma, requires moving at the pace our whole being can handle. The body and emotions are constantly communicating how much we can tolerate/embrace each moment of every day. Together, we'll identify your unique cues.

Here's the confidant assurance - when we meet ourselves with kindness instead of pressure, and adjust expectations with grace, our capacity for the unknowns (like learning something new) expands!

I believe by the fall, I’ll be harvesting fresh herbs for winter.
Praise God! 🌿💚

Years ago I discovered a sweet little spot on a river...it's every sort of perfect, including intimate. I spent many hours there mostly when my son was a boy. It's packed with tender memories of slow afternoons with lots giggles and discoveries.
Today I brought a nature loving client there who is learning how to let love in. Once again, this precious location delivered! Complete with a very curious frog swimming in between our feet. Loving yourself well, could be as simple as taking yourself outside! Where's your favourite place to be in summer?

Positivity is transformative, not toxic, when we take our attention off the current situation. It is not a denial of the circumstances; it is about the way we move through them. Focusing on problems creates limitation, delay, and distraction. Choosing a positive attitude, such as gratitude, supports ease and graceful movement through life. It does not change the circumstance; it changes us—what we believe, think/feel, and act.

The mind is a battlefield! Every man, woman, and child experiences this inner spiritual war everyday. It's the racing thoughts or brain fog, emotional heaviness, anxiety, loneliness and cravings that we can't seem to control even though we know it's not good for us. Skirmishes are fought in our dreams at night and during the day as invasive thoughts, thoughts that may not even be originated by us, memories that keep resurfacing and in the replaying conversations. All of this is intended to drive us deeper into "the rut" of feeling "bad".

Until, we take authority over what we will allow ourselves to believe, think and feel.

The more we invite the light of Truth into our lives, the quicker we find freedom and are transformed. Our beloved Maker is knocking at the door! First, we must answer it, then invite Eternal Love in. Prayer is just one of the ways we engage in our own healing process.

Peace to you this day 🤍
