ALWAYS DILUTE ESSENTIAL OILS FOR PETS

When diluting essential oils for use with pets, it's important to use a carrier oil to ensure proper dilution and reduce the risk of irritation or toxicity. Carrier oils are vegetable oils that help dilute and safely deliver the essential oils. Some commonly used carrier oils for pets include fractionated coconut oil, sweet almond oil, and jojoba oil. Here are some general guidelines for diluting essential oils for pets:

Dogs: For dogs, a safe starting dilution is typically 0.25% to 0.5% (2 to 4 drops of essential oil per 1 ounce of carrier oil). However, the dilution can be increased up to 1% for certain essential oils under the guidance of a veterinarian. Always start with a lower dilution and monitor your dog for any adverse reactions.

Cats: Cats are more sensitive to essential oils, so extreme caution should be exercised. In general, it's recommended to avoid using essential oils directly on cats or diffusing them in their immediate vicinity. If you receive specific guidance from a veterinarian to use essential oils with cats, the recommended dilution is usually 0.1% or less (1 drop of essential oil per 1 ounce of carrier oil). However, it's important to consult with a veterinarian who is knowledgeable about essential oil use in cats.

It's important to note that these are general guidelines, and dilutions may vary depending on the specific essential oil and the purpose of use. Always consult with a veterinarian experienced in essential oil use for pets to determine the appropriate dilution ratio for your specific situation.
