I had the privilege of giving a Me Time workshop in Shaunavon yesterday on Gratitude. I am grateful for that opportunity, for all the individuals who came out, and for the Me Time organizers! This is a terrific program - building community, providing a welcoming social space! Thank you! Keep your eyes open for their programming!

Colorectal cancer (or bowel cancer) is the second-most-diagnosed cancer for Saskatchewan men and third for women, yet 90 per cent of cases are preventable with early detection. ColonCheck sends free FIT (f***l immunochemical test) kits to thousands of eligible Saskatchewan residents aged 50–74. This test detects microscopic blood. About 70 per cent of followups after an abnormal FIT reveal precancerous polyps, cancer or diseases like Crohn’s or colitis.� So... if you get a FIT test in the mail, go ahead and get it done! CMA seeking to intervene in landmark Saskatchewan pronoun case

The CMA has applied to intervene before the Supreme Court in the ongoing pronoun case in Saskatchewan. The Saskatchewan government is using the notwithstanding clause to prevent its legislation on parental consent around student pronouns and name changes from being struck down by the courts. (CMA)

CMA President Dr. Margot Burnell spoke to media about what the case means for Canada’s health care system:

“The issue to be decided really is whether the court may still declare that legislation violates Charter rights when a provincial government has already invoked the notwithstanding clause. This decision will be precedent setting.” (Globe and Mail, by subscription)

“The notwithstanding clause should not be a tool to end public and legal debate. Legal debate on important issues requires dialogue among legislature, courts and citizens.” (Global and CTV)
