STILL A COWGIRL
It’s barely used these days
With my horses turned out to graze.
They’re getting fat on a round bale.
But my saddle’s not for sale.
My colts are falling behind
In the race I made up in my mind.
They’ve never seen the rodeo trail.
But my saddle’s not for sale.
I don’t feel sharp with my rope.
A wiser woman may say it’s no hope.
Many days I may fail.
But my saddle’s not for sale.
My babies will know I always tried.
And someday they’ll ride by my side.
Because a mother will prevail.
And my saddle’s not for sale.
