Meeting Akeema, one of our sparkling smiles at the front desk of Foxglove Wellness!
Akeema is currently getting her masters in counselling psychology. She loves holistic health and wellness. She has a 14 year old hairless Sphynx named Sophia. This girlie is definitely an extrovert, but also love to sleep.
You can find her cuddled up with her cat, reading, or studying away - always with the cat though.
Akeema co-leads a support group for young adult cancer survivors and patients in Edmonton - being a survivor herself!
Her personal hell is being cold, Canadian winter edition.
We just adore Akeema - she’s extremely clever and was a born a true leader. We’re going to see her accomplish some amazing things - beyond what she’s already accomplished at her young age.
Pop in a say hello! She’s super chatty and bubbly. Every interaction with her will leave you feeling a little lighter.

Some words of wisdom from Olivia!
She’s trained in acupuncture and also herbal Chinese medicine. Traditional Chinese method uses both acupuncture and herbal medicine to treat the body - we attack it from two different angles. Chinese herbal medicine is where the magic happens, so listen to Olivia when she tells you to drink your herbs. Here’s what she has to say…
“In Chinese Medicine people often present with a stagnation (or blockage) of either Qi or blood. Acupuncture is amazing at quickly and effectively moving both Qi and blood which can resolve a variety of issues from pain to bloating and constipation to stress and irritability.
In other situations people can present with a deficiency (or lack of) of again Qi & blood or yin and yang. In these situations acupuncture CAN also help the body to build these up but it takes consistency and time. This is when herbs and diet come into play. It’s easier to build things up in the body by introducing food / plant material rather than trying to kickstart an already depleted system to produce more.”
Acupuncture calls on your body to improve function but when you’re depleted, using herbs to add what you’re missing is the game changing move a lot of people need.

Marc as his spirit animal - last but not least.
Marc’s spirit animal is a wolf! He has a playful puppy dog energy but gets serious when he is on the hunt — for muscle tension, knots, and fascial adhesions.
He is a pro at circling the problem area and going in for the kill. He murders neck tension and back pain with one quick shake of his hand.
He’s eager to treat and is ready to pounce on any problem you might bring to his table.

Carolyn’s spirit animal is the crow. She’s highly intelligent and brings her problem solving skills to every treatment.
Her critical thinking skills make her adaptable to all DIFFERENT types of cases - arguably the toughest job in our industry if you have to shift mental gears for every client.
Her sharp senses allow her to hone in on your specific needs - and her techniques follow suit. Trust she has a good bird’s eye view of your needs and will execute as needed.
On a side note, her quick witted personality will have you cackling at every appointment.

Our next spirit animal is Spirit, herself!
Katerri’s spirit animal is the horse. If any of you have had a massage with Kat, the word horsepower might nail it. The clients who want a therapeutic “good hurt” kind of massage get referred to Kat.
The mix of physicality and technique this girl uses made the horse a clear choice for us. Her grip strength will prove it.
And she brings that energy to every single massage appointment. She will be gentle if that’s what you need but there always energy to dig deeper.
On top of her sheer strength, she’s also a bit of a work horse - as she is the longest standing massage therapist at Foxglove Wellness. She was our first hire and has been with us since DAY ONE; Surely a show pony deserving of the blue ribbon.

Another RMT, another spirit animal. Meet Laura!
Laura’s spirit animal is a black cat. Her facade is badass, dark and moody but her precious heart and hands are as warm as a kitten’s snuggle.
She’ll lure you in with her mystical charm seemingly quiet at first, but she’ll chirp once she warms up.
Her massage style is intuitive. Her treatment room is dark, but that’s where she sees the best.
For those of you who like evening appointments, true to form, this cat comes out at night.
This goes without saying, but you’ll melt when she makes her biscuits.

We get asked about the style of massage each RMT gives at Foxyglove, and we have some good descriptions. However, we thought it would be fun to ask our massage team to describe their massage style by choosing a spirit animal — and we can’t wait to introduce them to you, starting with Jillian.
She didn’t actually choose her animal, we chose it for her. It was either a unicorn or GOAT, and unicorns are hotter… so behold!
RMT for 18 years and counting. To date - still massaging the highest number of clients at Foxy - and it’s all for the people. Whether you’re on her year long waitlist or one of the lucky few to snag her last minute cancellations, your massage will be magical.
There’s something unique and indescribable about a massage with Jillian; something you can’t quite name or teach and also something you can’t find anywhere else.
As a business owner, she might seem whimsical, but don’t underestimate the power and unspoken force behind those hazel eyes.
Want a massage with Jillian? Chances are as likely as spotting a unicorn in the wild.
