Are you feeling anxious about your flight? ✈️

I created this calming visualization for myself, because airports and planes give me a body-based experience of feeling trapped or rushed. If that is something you experience, too, take a moment to listen to this short meditation before your next trip.

I'm excited to share that I'm now offering comprehensive ADHD assessments!

I'm looking for at least 5 people (new or existing clients) who are interested in taking part as I build experience in this area.

The cost is $1,000, which reflects the additional time and depth involved in understanding your full mental health picture alongside ADHD-specific functioning.

If you're interested or have questions, please reach out! I'd love to talk through whether this assessment feels like the right fit for you.

🌊 “Riding the wave” is a common expression, especially in therapy speak. As both a parent and a therapist who works with parents, though, I know that this is a little more complicated when it comes to dealing with everyday crises.

In order to co-regulate our children, we need to regulate ourselves, but we’re often triggered by the behaviors we need to stay calm through. The demands are often overwhelming, and the waves aren’t isolated events—they’re compounding.

And yet, small changes in our regulation capacity can make meaningful differences.

This is where therapy work comes in: I might not be able to stop the waves from coming, but I can help you build capacity to withstand them. I can witness your struggle, celebrate your resilience, and we can practice riding waves together in the safety of the therapeutic relationship.

I'd love to hear from other clinicians: How do you work with the wave metaphor in your practice? What adaptations have you found helpful for parents navigating complex trauma and co-regulation challenges?

Have you ever felt that it was your job to heal your parents?

Often, children of emotionally immature parents grow up to believe that they alone can fix generational pain. This is an impossible—and unfair—burden that can keep us stuck in the same pattern.

So how can we move forward with this invisible inheritance and create space for something different?

A few years ago, I rebranded my counselling practice as Embodied Psychology.

The word “embodied” represents who I am now as a somatic, relational, experiential, and feminist psychologist, and I hope it gives you a better idea of my approach. In working together, I hope you begin to rediscover your capacity for softness, safety, and self-compassion.

If you’re looking to start 1:1 therapy anywhere in Alberta and you think we might be a good fit, I invite you to connect via email at: [email protected]

I offer sessions in person, via phone or video, and walk-and-talk.

Hypervigilance is a heightened state of alertness to potential threats. It's a common symptom of PTSD, anxiety disorders, and chronic pain, and it can disrupt our daily life and relationships.

I use the metaphor of the alarm system that won’t turn off, or the overly sensitive smoke detector, regularly with clients because it accomplishes several important things:

❇️ It's non-pathologizing: we're not talking about what's "wrong" with you.

❇️ It honors adaptation: your responses were intelligent solutions to real problems.

❇️ It externalizes the problem: you're not an anxious person or a controlling person.

❇️ It suggests possibility: alarms can be recalibrated.

What adaptations did you develop that once served you but now feel like they're running the show? How might you begin to recognize them as answers rather than problems?

If you’re interested in somatic, relational, feminist and experiential 1:1 therapy, and you’re wondering what it’s like to work with me, this is what you can expect from our sessions 🌱

My work is for people who want to reconnect with themselves—with parts that got locked away, with sensations long ignored, and with inner wisdom that has been waiting. When we sit together, I’m most interested in helping you listen to your body, your parts, your deeper knowing.

We’ll listen to your nervous system, your emotions, and any body memories you’ve been holding and work to help them soften, integrate, and transform.

I also believe that many of our struggles are not individual failings, but responses to oppressive systems. We'll name those forces and work together to reclaim your agency within them.

Sessions draw on approaches like Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy (AEDP), Somatic Experiencing, experiential approach, parts-work methods, and EMDR.

If you’d like to connect, you can do so via the contact form at my website, or email at [email protected]
